Happy Birthday Steve and Eli. It's supposed to be very nice out today. Have your birthday lunch outside.

Eli, what are you taking to school for your treat? Hope it's not granola bars, apples or anything healthy.

I made cookies that have bittersweet chocolate chunks, pb chips and mini Reeses's pb cups...no, not healthy at all...and, they're big! :-)
This morning, Tom made Chocolate Chips pancakes (bananas on the side) and my cousin, Gina, is visiting so she was able to celabrate the B-Day morning with us! :-)

Happy Birthday, Stevo! What are you guys doing tonight?

Caitlin is in town! We saw her, last night, when she and Betty stopped by the house. She looks awesome and is so nice with the kids...of course.

We almost missed her though...we had JUST returned home from the Pumpkin Patch and stepped outside to sneak a smoke...and, Caitlin and Betty pulled up! :-) Unfortunately we missed having dinner, with all, as we had already ordered pizza and my cousin Gina was operating on 2 hours of sleep and then, drove 2.5 hours to get here. She's a stylist and worked at the Des Moines Airport from 9pm-7:30am on a Qwest commercial. She has a cool job.

Happy Birthday, Stevo! I think we should take a picnic to the park. Molly's family is coming over tonight for Stevo's signature birthday dinner - roast chicken, brussels sprouts, baked potatoes and some kind of pie.

Happy Birthday, Eli! You have a very distinguished birth date shared by many exemplary persons of high character. Have a great one!

Happy Birthday, Dad!! Funny, I just put chicken in the crock pot and I have frozen brussels sprouts in the freezer. I think we'll have the same dinner as you guys tonight so we can vicariously have a birthday dinner with you. I'll have to substitute baked potatoes with potato-cheddar PIErogies, though, and they will have to double for pie, too. YUM!! Hope you have a great day, Dad.

Happy Birthday to Eli, too! What is your birthday dinner - or do you have birthday breakfast with chocolate chip pancakes? Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Elevo!

Happy birthday, Dad! I'm working tonight, but I'll see what I can do to vicariously have a birthday dinner, too. There's a chicken salad sandwich in the vending machine that I've been eyeing for a couple weeks, and I think I can get some potato chips and one of those little apple pies. I'll have to see what I can do about the brussel sprouts. But people do keep weird things in the fridge here.

Happy birthday, Eli!

Oh, Betty says the cookies Eli brought were "to die for." :-)

Joe, If you find anything that looks like brussels sprouts in that fridge....DON'T EAT IT! And for that matter, skip th vend-o-chicken and just get some Mc Nuggets or something.

I just heard that the MVC is thinking about moving the Arch-Madness tournament from St. Louis. The posible sights for the tournament include Omaha and Chicago. Chicago is really pushing to get it since the Big Ten moved their tournament to Indianapolis.

Hope they end up in Chicago. Speaking of Chicago - Creighton opens its season Nov. 9th agaist DePaul in Omaha.

oh my god when was the last time you had a butterfinger? They are SO GOOD!!!!!1
p

Anonymous said...

They're especially good dipped in hot chocolate.

Ed X said...

They leave crap in your teeth.

Anonymous said...

I had one last week. I bought Hallooween candy too soon. Have you ever had Chicko Sticks(I think that's what they are called)? They're like Butterfingers without the chocolate. Yummy.

Does everyone have their costumes picked out?

Eli and Liam have masks that have that black material which drapes over the back of the head. Eli's guy looks very serious/solemn and has two, bloody, open wounds on it. He, also, has red, bloody, long finger nail, hand covers. Liam's mask is similar to Eli's, but his creepy face has a big grin (like the Joker) and no open wounds...looks just like Liam if he was a demon! He, also, has icky hand covers, but his are green. They're either gonna wear black jeans and a black sweatshirt...or, these black, capey, hooded gowns they have from last year...when they were, "Scream."

Happy Birthday Dad and Eli. What did Eli get for his birthday?

We love dressing up! I think I'll be able to dress up every night until Wednesday. Tonight I am being the Hamburgler and Andy is being Gene the More Cow Bell guy from that SNL skit. His costume is great! I will take a lot of pictures.

Eli rec'd an Ipod Shuffle. We have no idea how to work it...hmm.

A zombie cheerleader and Cinderella came to Stevo's birthday dinner last night. They looked great. Molly took an old lady blue chiffon dress from the Goodwill store and made it into a perfect Cinderella dress for Mia. She also made cheerleader outfits for Catie and her best friend, but they have to add the zombie makeup and blood or whatever decorations zombies wear. I can't wait to see Batgirl and Rapunzel.

Happy Birthday to two great guys! (I'm talking bout Eli and Stevo.) Hope you had fun celebrations.

Jude is either going to be a cow because his cow costume from last year still fits him and he loves to wear it or he will be a fireman. We have both ready to go, so we'll see what he chooses.

Ellen, do you guys have "Don't Fear the Reaper" recorded so that ANdy can carry around a little boom box and practice his cowbell?

My cousin, Gina, is going as Medusa. She bought a bunch of plastic snakes, yesterday, at Dollar General to weave into her thick, long hair. Very cute. :-)

Anonymous said...

Okay, I have a question about cows. Aren't the female cows the ones that have utters? Yah, well in the movie Barn Yard they have a bunch of male cows prancing around with utters hanging out...I don't get it.

Anonymous said...

How about udders? Utters is utterly incorrect.

Anonymous said...

Well...what about uDDers?

Anonymous said...

They all have rumens.

Anonymous said...

transgender cows... on a kids show? does jerry falwell know about this?

Anonymous said...

I think they just put udders on the bulls and/or steers because udders look funny, especially on cartoon cows. It also eliminates the need to decide just what you're goung to draw down there for the cartoonist.

Emily, has the smoke died down any where you are? Did the winds stop?

Happy Birthday Stevo and Eli, or StEli...I missed the blog yesterday and when I saw Eli I didn't mention the Birthday...please tell him I didn't know!

We had our ribbon cutting this a.m., I was sooo happy with the turnout, the place was packed. We were told it was a bigger crowd than most! Mom and Dad were here...the Brothers were not! haha (they had good excuses)...

Mom and I are going to see Michelle Obama this afternoon...I'll give a full report.

Stevo - Happy Birthday to one of the world's few remaining "true" gentleman. Hope it was a great day for you.

I told Eli that now that he has an Ipod (or whatever the thing is) he can start walking into school with his Ipod on looking all sullen and "emo".

Also, Eli is taking trombone lessons. I've had to bite my tongue several times wanting to say, "Eli, now you're playing the trombone I guess that make you a tromboner."

After the GHS football game last night we met a friend of Betty's whose name is Patricia Margaret. How refreshing it was to meet a kid with a real name! Dad

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. It truly was a great day. Only worked an hour and a half and then took the rest of the day off. Cathy and I had a great picnic lunch out at Arrowhead County Park and then took a walk. The weather was perfect and the fall colors were beautiful. We even had a short nap in the sun on the seats of a picnic bench. What could be better? Oh yea, it did get even better that evening sharing my favorite birthday dinner with some of my favorite people. The Milbraths, the Richardsons, and my girlfriend. Even had two kinds of pie: country apple and pumkin with whipped cream. Of course I had to have a small piece of each. I got phone calls from our children who could not be with us (although I understand some of them were sharing our meal vicariously) and I know they were all there in spirit, all of which made my day. All in all it was a great birthday and the best part was sharing it with people I love.

I am truly honored to share my birthday with Eli, a really cool guy. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELI from one 10/25ER to another.

Stevo's birthday was very nice. He shared his day graciously, and Cathy made the best roast chicken I think I have ever had.

Sorry to have missed your birthday, Eli! You're a great guy!

Stevo and Eli, I hope you both had a great day!

Moving Arch Madness??? If it goes anywhere, I hope it goes to Omaha. It would be good for the city. But does that mean they have to build an arch?

Oh and by the way... I thought parents could no longer send homemade cookies and treats to school(silly but true - perhaps a bill forwarded by Little Debbie)... or has that been a local thing for us?

Anonymous said...

In small towns they can.

Just got back from a weekend retreat. See my halo? See it?

Anonymous said...

Yah, my friends have that criteria for treats...but, we don't. :-)

i remember how in college I got that part time job as a circus clown. The kids would laugh and laugh at me. I vowed then and there that I would get my revenge.

Eli had an awesome party, yesterday. I always find parties to be a bit nerve wracking. Yah just hope that kids leave thinking, "That was so much fun and Eli's a nice guy." Yah hope they don't leave thinking, "That was lame." The boys arrived at 1pm, including one boys brother who is in Liam's class. They played football, had a donut eating contest and then, we went to Sarah's where they bellied up to the bar and made their own sodas, including something called a suicide. They played videos and hide-and-seek. Tom fried up some goodies and we opened presents and had cake. Then, off to play football, again, in the empty lot alongside the restaurant. I sent 9 boys home really full and tired. They had a great time...lots-o-smiles...nice kids. :-)

33 working days left.

You can do it!
Any bites on the house?

Anonymous said...

Pat...quit chewing on your house.
you'll make a hole for that mouse..
he'll come in and scare your cat
He'll puke on the chair you last sat
You'll fall on the floor,
Josh will trip over you when he walks in the door!
So, quit chewing on the house!

Isn't it funny how we stress about what a bunch of little kids will think about the birthday party? That sounds like a really fun one. I remember one year we had Grace's friends make their own pizzas, or cupcakes or something, and then we tied donuts up hanging from the top of the swingset and they had to eat them without using their hands. They had a great time.
Lisa made lasagna last night. Mmmmmm.

Aaaagh! Our washer quit! Stevo thinks it's done for. It's only seven years old! We have to get another one fast. I hate spending money on not-fun items. Every time I look at it I'll think, "There's my new living room rug."

Anonymous said...

It's a Maytag.

Anonymous said...

That's how we had them eat their donuts. After the first played football for a while I gathered them around me and said with much excitement that we were going to play a game that we used to play at all my birthday parties when I was a kid. I told them we were all going to get a rake and we were going to have a contest to see who could rake up the most leaves. And then, after that, we were going to see who could pick up the most sticks.

In the midst of saying this one of the kids said, "Like we would want to play games for the 80's".

In other words they new from the get go I was full of it.

Also, on the ride over to the restaurant there was a lot of talk about "your mom". As in, when someone mentions the most innocuous comment like "Gee that's a hairy looking tree." This would illicit a response something along the lines of "Your mom's hairy."

That kind of thing the whole ride. Being 11 must be kind of fun.

Re: The washer. Monica - I meant to post this earlier (much earlier). But that washer and dryer set you gave me came into play as predicted. Within 2 weeks of me getting those from you our washer went out. As predicted but much sooner. Also, the dryer appears to be on it's last leg.

Thanks again for them.
