Terrorist Alert!

About a week ago METRA (the commuter train in Chicago) found that a number of railroad ties were missing the metal peg that secures them to the ground. This is not something that just comes out and requies a special tool to remove. Not having the peg in the tie will cause a train to derail. Last nignt on that same line (the south line) TWO trains derailed. METRA hasn't said if the pegs were missing or not. Its not like they derailed and fell over though. They just went off the track and stopped. I don't think anyone was hurt. Anyway - the FBI terrorist task force is on it and there is a $50K reward for catching the the guy who did it. I am going to start a terrorist watch on the train ride home (with the big 24 oz. bottles) starting today.

Ed - I agree. A mission such as this requires the correct resources. I commend you on your decision to take the old, reliable duece-fours with you. Know this: The complete support and resolve of your fellows are with you. Be careful out there.

Bob and Mary Laurel - Happy Birthday to my fellow October Birthdayers.

I wish to thank everyone in advance for the many congratulations & birthday wishes I'm sure will start rolling in soon. While I don't need outside reassurance of the incredible significance of this day, your expressions of joy are welcome. I had hoped to do some extensive terrorist surveillance tonight, but I have a biology lab first. I hate biolab. Last week I got yelled at for not washing out my test tubes. I told the lab assistant that since I had to pay over $800 to take this stupid course, and he was the only person getting paid to be there, then he can wash the damn tubes. Besides, there must be over 200 tubes there, and if the next kid was too stupid to pick out a clean one, then maybe his time would be better spent busting concrete. Tom, I see a business opportunity here- culinary school! Make those kids pay you to wash your dishes. It's one of the many assignments for the hygiene class. Be sure to provide lots of positive feedback like " I'm pretty sure you will get it right the next time." Anyway I hope to see you all sometime soon. Thanks- Bob

Happy birthday Mary Laurel. May all your birthday wishes come true.

Happy birthday Bob. Clean test tubes are good for drinking Jagger Meister out of, so you can do your lab and celebrate your birthday at the same time tonight.

Happy B-Day Bob...May the breeze of bacteria be forever at your back, the glare of clean test tubes be in your future and the bodies of attitude packing lab assistants be beneath your feet!

Happy B-day Mary L...May the happiness of a thousand prince and princesses be with you!

Happy Birthday Mary L. and Bob!

Hey, are you back in school, Bob???

I had our cable TV disconnected in August. Best thing I ever did. I asked Joe and Betty if they missed cable, and are okay with not having it. It is a lot quieter around here and they read a little more. I hope I have seen the last of The Suite Life of Zac and Cody!

Happy Birthday, Bob! Maybe you could do some terrorist watching through the bottom of a beaker.

Happy Birthday, Mary Laurel! You are keeping us on our toes!

Be careful, Ed! If you see a terrorist, do not try to apprehend him or her without backup. Ask that 80-year-old conductor on your train to help.

See you tomorrow, Em.
