Happy Birthdays.

Leaving Chicago today. Greg Allman was a great show. Good guy. We will be gettig a pic of us with him. I told him before he went on stage that he better put on a good show. He laughed and said, "I'm not here to put on a bad show, Brother."

My coworkers and I went to dinner last night with Ed and Des. Great BBQ place. Tonight Ed and Des are going to a Cubs game (vs Mets) with one of my coworkers. He had extra tickets and offered them up to Ed and Des.

Happy Birthdays, and congrats Caitlin and Sean!

Summer's almost here. Goodbye, stolen peaceful moments before the kids get home from school. Hello, lazy summer days that last forever, until they unfurl into magical twilight nights sparked by fireflies and scented by warm summer breezes.

Happy birthday to Braden, Scott, Phelan and Caitlin!

Wish you were here, the weather is beautiful.

Congrats to Pat and Josh!

Dillards is closing, so I had a very Dillards birthday and mother's day... lots of kitchen stuff I asked for (I am getting close to haveing 12 of everything in Friendly Village - I'll have to have you all over soon), went out to eat at la mesa - Yum! I can't even drink a whole margarita any more without wanting to go home and nap.

Have a great year, birthday folks!

Hi everyone!

Joe and I are sitting here, waiting for our chicken to roast and catching up on the blog. Happy birthday to all and congratulations to Pat and Josh!

Joe and I are relaxing after hosting a guy, Bakha, from Tajikistan, for a week. It was kind of last minute in that we found out we'd have him about three days before he arrived in town. We've hosted a Tajik before, so we're building up our Central Asian network, I guess. This guy spoke perfect English and had an iphone and was our age, so it was more like having a quirky roommate than a crazy mutlicultural experience, but it was pretty fun.

I' so glad we got to see some of you all at Caitlin's graduation!

Maybe the rapture guy was right, only the earth is self-destructing in slo-mo. All these tornadoes and floods! Of course, that would mean that NOBODY was worthy because I haven't seen any reports of people ascending into Heaven.

Yeah but I bet at least (what is the number..144,000??) I bet at least that many people died that day. Maybe THEY got raptured.

Josh is gone this week, and 48 Hours is on. I really shouldn't watch it; it gives me nightmares.

Pat, It's time to be a tough little cougar.

Caitlin and Andrew had a nice dinner at Ellen and Andy's last night, and Joe and Brianne, and afterwards Andrew's band played in Des Moines (I don't know where)...the name of his band is Noah's Ark Was a Spaceship.

We had a great time with Caitlin and Andrew last night. We (C&A, Ellen, Andy, Caroline, Brianne and I) had dinner at El Bait Shop. Decent tex-mex with a great beer selection. Then Andy took Caroline home and the rest of us had a drink at The Lift before seeing NAWAS play at the Vaudeville Mews. All in the same area in downtown DM. It was a great show. They got the best crowd response of the three bands we saw. Fun Friday night.

Sorry to anybody who got an email from me linking to a NY Times youtube video.

My email was hacked. I blame Sony. I changed the password and I think that might have fixed it.

Ha ha....

Jim Tressel - the coach who put the "vest" in investigation.

So with USC only allowed six recruits this year and now Ohio State looking at some pretty stiff penalties hopefully this will open things up for ND and other schools. The NCAA just needs to head south now and take a look at those SEC schools.

Ha ha. That's true, Ed. So did every one have a good weekend? Tom, did yous sell your house and buy a new one? Anything fun going on in whittemore or algona soon.? Want to make a trip.

Looks like we sold and bought a house pending any hiccups from the banks. None expected but you never know.

An email from an Buckeye fan here at work....these guys are pathetic.

EMPATHY, DISGRACE, RELIEF…….

As much as the “naysayers” would like to think the end has come and the phrase “off with their heads” has come true, just remember be careful what you loathe for. Our University has lost a significant piece (not one man, but the pride of storied accomplishments). I wear black today only to be proud to wear Scarlet and Grey tomorrow. The fires of this situation may still be raging, but soon enough it will turn to ash and the mighty Phoenix will rise again.

GO BUCKS !!!!!

Lisa, Emma and Mary (Randy was sick) and Molly, Catie, Mia and Oscar (Brian was weekended out)came over for an impromptu stone-soup kind of Memorial Day dinner. Lisa brought brats, lemonade and homemade ice-cream sandwiches and Molly brought a beer-can chicken and baked potatoes and we made baked beans, dogs and various snacks and made sangria out of three half-bottles of wine, some leftover fruit and some pop. We ate inside because the wind was so strong, but it was a nice, laid-back dinner.

Breaking News!!!!

Monika Strub began campaigning for a state parliament seat in Germany in March as a member of the Left Party. Until 2002, Strub, then "Horst Strub," was with the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party, but then decided he was really a female, underwent surgery and became Monika, a socialist. Not surprisingly, she has been harassed by some of her former colleagues. [The Local (Berlin), 3-12-2011]

poor Monika. S/he seems confused.

The real Monica Staub
