Monica?
Jackie O?

She's scanning the horizon, looking for the approach of football season.

Anonymous said...

Doubt it.

Joe 3, I think I saw tears in the corner of Scott's eyes this morning too. He keeps talking to me about obscure Husker players like I really care. I should really try to take a better interest because he roots for ND now too.

What sucks is that she probably had 4 kids at this point. My genes didn't meld properly.

I know. Not fair. Great photo though. I had it blown up 5 X 7 from a slide.

Do we know who it is? Is it just a random (teeny bopper word) model?

I have just been informed that this picture of a Hot Enchilada is Mary Straub! Wowzer.

Mom.
I knew right away.
Her face looks a bit like Phelan's in this photo.

Last night Randy, ED (yes, ED, the girls and I went to ISU's season opener in which they barely got by with a 3 over time win. We had the girls with us... Mary was worried about little Cy finding his mom. We got home after 12:30 and made our kids go to school today anyway.

See all of you soon.

She, absolutely, looks like Monica. I had no idea what this picture was about...and, immediately thought it was Monica...or, Jackie O. :-)

I'm still in awe over this picture...first, it's an amzing piece of photography...but, to also have it be a fabulous picture of your Mother...is so cool. :-)
I want a copy. I bet you could make it into a poster and sell it at Art Plus! :-)

Anonymous said...

Sa-a-ayyy, weren't there to be copies made of these priceless photographs?

We listened to that ISU game on the radio - wow! Good game, although I don't know if it bodes well for ISU in future tougher games. After that, I watched Andre Agassi and a 21-year-old Venezuelan(?) guy battle to the death. Agassi's back was killing him, to the point where he was hobbling around like a little old man between sets and then the kid's thigh muscles cramped up and he was in agony and they would drag themselves on court to play some more, until I just wanted it to end, and finally it did (Agassi won) and I went to bed. I was worn out from all those strenuous sports.

Good luck to Joe IV tonight! Woo, woo woo!

Anonymous said...

OK, just one last thing - we are NOT bringing a grill (broken valve)so if anyone was thinking, "I won't bring my grill this year, everyone else brings one" there is one less coming.

Anonymous said...

How does anyone know if they need to bring a grill? Has there been any dialogue regarding this?

We could bring one...but, don't want to if there are already enough...anyone know?

How'd garrigan do last night? How'd young Joe do?

Anxiously awaiting results of the Graveyard Games!

Anonymous said...

By the way, did that ND / GT game make anyone else nervous? They didn't look too good, but at least they got the W.

Anonymous said...

Young joe did not get to play. He did however, come in second at the Graveyard Games. Ryan Ortega won the most spectacular trophy ever. Danny's girlfriend did a great job keeping score and Joe had a great surprise party. Only one small mishap. Poor Ed. Are your hands recovering? Plenty of Straub beer to go around. Joe 3 survived the strangers from the river.

Hope everyone arrived home safely.

MOnica,

Stop speaking in code! What happened to Ed's hands? What sort of games were played? What strangers by the river? Sounds a little like Deliverance.

P. Rose said...

Wow. Fill us in! p

Anonymous said...

There were swamp people, who came up from the river the last night. Their boat got stuck on the beaver dam. They had webbed hands.

Ed wiped out during bike croquet and got a little scraped up.

P. Rose said...

Poor Ed! Ed are you ok?
Yes Em, that game was not very reassuring...

Sorry,

We played golf with walnuts. You had to chip it into the fire. Extra points if you hit Elvis. We hiked a foot ball. We played horse shoes. Bike croquet. Next time we'll pick up a bike from Goodwill.

I think I left all my toiletries there somewhere. I know I had them in my hand to take them to the car but I must have gotten side tracked and set them down. Had my last pair of contacts in the bag. I'm reduced to glasses until I can get to the doctor.
Has anyone ever ordered them through the mail. Do you need a prescription that's less than a year old?

Monica

Monica, Cathy has your bag, we noticed it as we were locking up the house...she thought it might be Grace's...lots of toothbrushes sticking out of it. Were your Notre Dame tix in there, too! Just curious!

Anonymous said...

Monica~
I emailed you...please, check. :-)

Monica

I have ordered contacts from 1800 CONTACTS several times. They ask for your doctor's name and phone #, but I don't think they ever actually call the doctor to see if the perscription is less than a year old becuase I have ordered them when my scrip was over two years old. If they ask the last time you went to the eye doctor, just say, "Oh it's been about a year."

Ed, are you OK? Did everyone escape the river people? What was the trophy like?

Anonymous said...

The following peeps still owe for their tees:
Pete $14.80
Emily $22.20
Jim $37.00
Joe3 $29.60
Randy $.10

Non-attendees tees will be, "housed," and your folks for pick up at Christmas...or, your next visit home.

Please, make your checks payable to Nance Straub as I will be sending my Dad his money tomorrow and will cover your portion.

I'm most concerned about Randy.

Thank you everyone for making the, "money collection," easy." :-)

Monica -
I can just send you the bag but I can't do it until Thursday. Is that OK?
Thanks Joe for providing the most awesome trophy ever (it includes a lava lamp, an oscar-type figure, a winged-victory t-type figure, and best of all, Blue Moon Elvis.
Thanks Nance and Tom for the great T-shirts (and Grace for keeping track). At our November Generations of Faith night I'm going to ask everyone in the parish to wear family reunion t-shirts if they have them, just so I can show mine off.
Thanks Ed for the beer, the bike and the spectacular end-over-end flip. Talk about giving your all.

Next year we're going to have something for the kids. So the question becomes which camp are you in re trophies for everyone vs. everyone can't win all the time?? We're all just here to have fun and there are no losers vs. harsh reality? Both sides weigh in; both sides have merit. Let's arrive at a good solution that keeps the fun and love in it for the kids and doesn't waste too much valuable time that could be spent drinking fine beer and spilling our blood for the glory of the competition.

Anonymous said...

Spoken by someone who was afraid to do the bike thing.

Anonymous said...

Sounds like lots of fun. So sad to have missed out. We are already planning on being there next year!

Anonymous said...

Oh, and Nance, I'll put the check in the mail today. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

I think Grace had the best idea... instead of trophies for all the kids, a trophy for the winner and gift bags all around. Remember, kids love whoopie cushions, fake bad teeth, etc. Oriental trading, here we come.

Anonymous said...

I told Eli that maybe, the kids could have a special color tee as their First Place...idea. (?)

Eli's super bummed 'cuz he thinks he woulda won a Trophy, this year, if we had one.

Anonymous said...

Cathy~
Oh, as far as CAMPS go..."Everyone can't win all the Time," with goody bags for all!

That's my $.02.

P. Rose said...

Did you happen to draw names for christmas? Who was lucky enough to draw me? I want a queen size bed. Or a larger t.v.

Anonymous said...

Gee, that would have been a good idea. Unfortunately, we were all too occupied chasing personal glory, beating up web-fingered swamp people and stealing their meth, betting on dog fights or eating and drinking to think about giving something to someone else. When or how should we do it?

Anonymous said...

I already have an idea for next year's t-shirt.

Anonymous said...

Tell your idea.

Anonymous said...

Thank you very much Cathy.

I mowed our back yard today on our fancy new mower. It has a cup holder.

Monica

Anonymous said...

What was in your cup?

P. Rose said...

Does anyone have any great digital photos to send me?

Anonymous said...

What color is it?

Anonymous said...

I'll do the Christmas drawing today. You will have it tomorrow (or later today if I feel I really getting things done).

Anonymous said...

I request a GIRL'S name!!! :-<>

Give us Pete, again, 'cuz we still have his Christmas Gift from last year!!! :-)

Okay, okay...go ahead and do it randomly.

Anonymous said...

i don't know if Lisa should be allowed to do the drawing. i suspect it may be fixed.

Anonymous said...

Don't suspect, just know,young Skywalker.

Anonymous said...

If it's gonna be fixed...then, I FOR SURE want a GIRL'S name and PETE! Okay? Thanks. :-)

Anonymous said...

Maybe everyone buys a gift. At Christmas you choose one,( not your own). If you're not at the gathering you'll have a bigger surprise.

Fixed...huh? Really???

Anonymous said...

That's a great idea...but, I'm still buying a Barbie and other girly stuff! :-)

Anonymous said...

for your husband?

Anonymous said...

Ha! Wouldn't YOU like to know! :-<> :-)

I have a some pictures for you, Pat. I don't have very many people's emails though, so if you want them too, email me at ejayjack@iastate.edu. We have a few mini videos of the bike thing, but sadly, no good wipe outs. And no swamp people.
