Trick or treat! Smell my feet!

Thanks for the wishes.

Nance called Dad and got his recollections on how to make Spaghetti and meatballs. Her result was a very got fascimile. I think with some minor tweaking we can duplicate it exactly.

So that was my dinner along with a fantastic homemade chocolate cake with homemade chocolat frosting. Yummy.

The boys gave me cards with meaningful sentiments.

Thanks all for the apparrel. It fits nicely.

I plan to take the cash gifts I recieved and along with a gift to myself by a new snowboard, boots and bindings. Should save a ton of money on rental this year.

Tom (and others), you are supposed to proof read the message BEFORE it goes out. Dad

Kind a funny story. I've had a box of LP albums we have been dragging around with us. I've had it since the late 80's. Most of them I obsconded from a roommate who left me hanging with his half of the rent. Just moved out on me without notice.

One of my birthday gifts was one of those retro looking record players. You know - like from the 60s or even earlier. Looks like a little suitcase. Once opened the player is right there. Complete with small speakers and a tinny sound. Pretty cool.

Anyway, it was kind of neat to see Eli and Liam playing with this thing. I think it was the firt time they had ever played music in a non-digital format. They were intrigued by the mechanics of the whole thing. I think they experienced some fascination with the relatively primitive technology.

One time I had my students using carbon paper (try finding THAT in your local drug store) to trace designs on to already-cut-out ornament shapes.. They thought it was the coolest thing they ever saw.

That's funny. We're staying at a hotel this weekend and within a few minutes of being in the room, Caroline excitedly exclaimed, "look at this new kind of phone! Cool phone!" I also wonder what kids her age think about toy phones. Toy cell phones are the flip phone type and probably most toddlers haven't even seen their parents use them.
Since she plays on our Ipad, we now catch her trying to use our computer and TV like a touch screen sometimes. Ok, I attempted to use the computer like a touch screen the other day too and took me a minute to realize why it wasn't working.

Watching the ND halftime, and is it just me or does Doug Flutie look like a game show hose?

Frank said...

hose - host

c said...

He looks like a game show hoser. Actually I have no feeling about Doug Flutie one way or the other. But ND was lucky to get to Door #3!

By the time door #3 was flashed before the teams, either one of them would have been lucky to get to the end. You makin' me laugh, girl!

It's because I'm good luck. I got home late and turned on the TV and things turned around for the Irish. Lucky lisa karma kaptivates the Irish.

Ha!

The final portion of my gift from all of you arrived. A 6x10 U of I flag. Super cool - thank you.

Everyone on my street flys a college flag on Saturdays. Of course a lot of spiteful Buckeye flags. Some Wolverines as well.

The guy across the street flys a ND flag. I've formed a bit of a beer drinking / college football friendship with this guy. We've been to each others homes to watch ND gammes. I guess you could say we are in an allianc against all these Buckeye "a-holes" as he puts it.

It's all good natured and I am friends with most of the neighborhood. In fact, about a month ago we set up a projection TV in a buddy's backyard. By that I mean a front projection tv where any blank surface can be the screen. We rigged up a 4'x8' screen, built a fire pit, boiled crab legs and fired up the grill for steaks. The whole neighborhoood was there. Good times, even if we had to watch the Buckeyes. (This as the Nebraska game).

Anyway, thanks for giving me a flag to fly.

I had some intentions of voting early. But the thought occured to me that the county I live in is hard core, union, blue collar, rust belt politics. Lorain county. First county west of Cuyahoga (Cleveland).

Though we live in a bucolic suburb it is a "tough" county with some pretty rough towns.

I was afraid that if I went to the polling place when it was slow I would be sized up as a voter who doesn't share the views of the workers. That they would dump my ballot.

So, I will go and stand in a long line tomorrow.

I really find it incredible how the media is giving Obama a pass on this Benghazi business.

Either way, tomorrow our country will lean either capitalist or marxist. In either case, I will drink beer and watch football on Saturdays.

Tom.

Glad you like the flag, Tom!

Your lovely wife gave us the idea!

Waited in line almost an hour and a half to vote.
Brakes on Hyudai need $800 repair and our escrow account needs more money. Crud! But I will drink beer and watch football on Satudays too.

ND flag for Tom for Christmas! So, Tom, you don't trust the Ohio State flag flying poll workers? I wouldn't either.
Wine and football for me on Saturday!

For those of you who don't get on Facebook, here's something cousin Diane posted today (she's still living with generator power and glad to have it):

HERE's something interesting: got a phone call (cell) telling me that my fireman husband was in an accident, and they were given my number to call. He confirmed my name and my husbands. He said the driver got 'mouthy' and a fight broke out and a gun was pulled. Then told me my husband said I would cooperate and do what they said. They told me not to call the police or anything and he would not be hurt. I asked them to describe Richie and they gave me a generic description. So I CONFIRMED that my husband had red hair and a beard.... He said yes. So I told them to keep him, and I didn't give a $hit and hung up. Richie has neither a beard nor red hair.... Some people are really awful.

She said she called Richie right away and he thouoght it was funny. She didn't call the cops because it was a blocked number and "they're a little busy right now."

So, some are starting to predict a Rose Bowl for ND, vs. Nebraska. That would be interesting...

I saw the new Bond movie this weekend. (Eli pointed out correctly that for some reason they are now referring to them as OO7 movies.

Spoiler Alert! - He gets the sexy lady and defeats the maniacal bad guy even when it seems there is no way he can get out of the pickle he's in.

I like these Bond movies but I never thought they were so awesome as some people do. Good - not great.

We saw it too Tom. I like this Bond.
Not TOO good looking, but handsome. Not too slick. Javier Bardem is good. He always does a good crazy guy.

So apparenlty Hungarian Goulash is not much more than a beef veg soup with a bunch of paprika in it.

Nance had a Hungarian friend over and they made it together. (Immigrant woman who sounds like a vampire when she talks). A runny, brothy soup with a little spaetzle. Tastey, yes but nothing to write home about (wait! what? I'm doing that now?)

I prefer Dad's version. A thick, rich stew.

There is a lousy German restaurant near Jupiter (in Tequesta) that serves a thin Hungarian goulash too. They got the opportunity to sell it to me only once. Dad

In Szilvia's defense, if it were called Hungarian Soup....it would be perceived as much moh fabulous! The boys added srirachi sauce.

We saw Cloud Atlas about a week ago - pretty cool. I wouldn't mind seeing it again to catch a lot of the visual symbolism. We were too busy trying not to get lost in the various story lines. A cast of thousands played by about 7 people, pretty fun.
