Happy Birthday Ellen...Have Fun!!! Are you a quarter century old today?
This is sad...the Whittemore golf course sold for farm land! If you go to "Farm and Home Services" website and click on "acreages" you can see they are selling the clubhouse as an acreage with 5 acres. The board and their lawyer and realtor really screwed over the town of Whittemore. A day after it closed there was a crew out there pulling out trees...the whole thing happened real fast...I think it was a dirty deal. I think it would be fun to buy the clubhouse and live upstairs (great windows)and then have a business called the 19th hole with a driving range, the putting green and then a bar and grill.
Bummer about the gold course. When that Mueller guy bought it a few years ago I thought he made a good buy because he bought it with the intent of running it as a golf course but if that didn't work out it had more value as farm land than what he bought it for. My thoughts - not his.
But is is sad about that course. Not that I'm at all a good golfer but it is fun to play a course where you know every detail about how the greens play or where the pin is on a blind shot.
Weeks ago the term "opening day" was being tossed around whenever people spoke about calendars and planning meetings or travel and the like.
Having spent the last decade plus in Minn. and Iowa I thought to myself, "Gee, for a metro area these people are really the outdoorsman type." I was thinking they were talking about maybe a walleye season opening day or perhaps the start of some sort of doe season or even a ruffled grouse season perhaps. I had no idea they meant the opening day of baseball season.
It's a national holiday here. People take off work even if they aren't going to the game. Ladies exchange balloon bouquets with Indian's logos. The company has a set of volunteers who cook ball park hot dogs and dispenses hot peanuts.
It's kind of quant considering the team lost 100 games last year and the prospects are mild at best for this year.
But, if anything Cleveland has pretty good sports fans.
Sitting here doing tax returns and the tv has the usual early morning abundance of flat abs, lose weight, easy money in real estate, cooking devices, etc. I find myself getting hooked on Lifetime movies. The current airing of the "men are scum" theme is about a high school girl raped by her creepy track coach. Gosh, I hope she holds up under cross-examination, poor thing.
Caitlin is part of a forum with 3 other seniors presenting a senior project "Creighton's Climate Action Plan" dealing with issues of sustainability and climate action plans. Omaha's utilites district are attending along with the OPPD power district people plus many department heads. Caitlin was to give a presentation on her own, as well.
Thanks for the birthday wishes! It has been a great birthday weekend. My parents and the richardsons came up Thursday night and we celebrated with brisket chili corndogs and pie, headed to Indiana for my cousin's wedding Friday, and tonight are staying in Davenport at Andy's uncles. So happy I got to see so much family!
Who's seen the new Lincoln commercial? Is that Kevin Dobson?

I thought it was supposed to rain down there. I heard big storms. An end to the water rationing.
Monica
"I" didn't hear big storms. I heard you were supposed to get big storms.

We ended up at 93 yesterday. It's been months since we felt that. I think you guys should get the early summer, not us.
Just dropped Mom and Dad off. They have a 2 hour layover in NYC and in MPLS before landing in Fort Dodge. Sounds like a long day to me.

Joe,
Do you listen to Dr. Zdroak and her bevy of gals on those infomercails? They have a lot of scientific studies.
