Cathy and the Jayjack ladies were such wonderful hostesses this weekend! Ellen's Seussical baby shower was a delight with a themed feast and even door prizes! Mother's Day brunch was great, too. I was glad we were able to snag some of Lisa's scones and scotcheroos for the road before Joe had to get in to work!
For people who haven't seen them on facebook, I put photos up on my blog: http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2010/05/10/dr-seuss-baby-shower/
I can't believe there was another attack on kindergartners in China. 7 kids and 1 teacher dead. I don't think I'd send my kid to school. I mean, I know China is huge but that's the fifth one in a couple of months.
So if Missouri leaves that means (from what I understand) that the Big 12 will only have 11 teams and won't be allowed to have a Championship game (because you need at least 12).
Nebraska should leave...without Missouri and if Texas were to leave it would become a sissy conference! Won't the Big 10 need another team? They can't be the Big 11.
Assuming Notre Dame doesn't join (they're doing just fine without conference help), this is what the Big 10 could look like with West and East divisions. Frankly, I think it's a similar setup to the Big 12 in terms of one division holding a lot of chips. But I think it would be a good move for Nebraska, if only to be first one to make a move in this game of musical chairs. Don't care too much for how Texas steers the conference but the Big 12 wouldn't be much of a conference if it jumped to the SEC or Pac10. OU would follow. Before you know it, the Big12 is on par with the Mountain West. What happens to ISU???

Scott is escorting the DL for the next couple days. I'm hoping some of his positive energy somehow rubs off - all the way from Rochester to here. This rain is getting to me.

An Irishman goes into the confessional box after years of being away from the Church.
There’s a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap.
On the other wall is a dazzling array of the finest cigars and chocolates.
Then the priest comes in.
”Father, forgive me, for it’s been a very long time since I’ve been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be.”
Emily, tell Scott to give the DL spelling lessons in exchange for free advice! What's everyone planning for the weekend? I wouldn't mind another great grilled steak like the ones Dad served on Mother's Day! I saw a great art show in Omaha last weekend...
i spent the afternoon kicking it old school at the dead sea scrolls exhibit at the science museum. checked out the exhibit on the St. Johns Bible too. cool stuff.
I went ot Peter's baseball game last night where he got struck out twice. Today I am going to Tom's soccer game and then to Art in the Park. Which is great by the the way they only allow 59 vendors and they get applicants from all over the country. It's not crappy arts and crafts stuff. Very nice art work. Then mowing before it rains again. Tomorrow I'm going to Peter's last football game and then to picinic. An outdoor weekend.
Ok Tom, you haven't spoken up here for a month and this is what you have to say? Tell us about your job and the area. How are you feeling with Cleveland out of the playoffs?

So it sounds like Missouri, Nebraska, Rutgers and Notre Dame all got offers to join the Big Ten.
I don't think the ND will do it, sounds like Missouri will, but what do you think about Nebraska?
Nebraska said no on the news the other night, for whatever that means.

Maybe ISU can win a conference Championship for the first time since 1912 (and maybe this time they can win it outright instead of sharing it).
So Desmond - are you rooting for the San Jose Sharks or the Blackhawks in the up coming Western Conference Finals?
The Blackhawks! I have a hard time rooting for hockey in a place that doesn't ever see ice except for indoors.
Yikes! House moving coming up, probably within the next two weeks!
Cathy - you are moving?
Ohh, exciting Cathy! Finally!
Good luck, Cathy and Steve!

I wonder if Scott will get a tip.... you know...something for the effort.
