Everyday since last March Liam has told us what he wants for his birthday. It changes about once a week. Sometimes he will say, "Dad, I want XYZ and no matter what get me that even if I change my mind later."
Liam always has a hard time making up his mind. If we go to a C-store and I let the kids each get a candy bar he will take 5-10 minutes deciding (if I let him). In his mind he's thinking "they're all good. If I get a Reeses I won't be able a Kit Kat. I just don't know...."
Back on the blog...couldn't get on for 2 weeks, Lisa sent me the link...
Happy February Birthdays! We got a new dog to celebrate your birthdays!
Do we have the best looking family ever?
I think Uncle Bob leaves Mom and Dad's tomorrow to go back to Mexico. He has quite an ear infection (and deaf in the other ear) so he's not been feeling great.
Yeah Josh and I drove up to Jupiter and had a fabulous meal with Mom and Dad and Uncle Bob and Tally and Rosemary and Bob. The two Bobs sort of evened each other out in terms of talking.
Uncle Bob can't hear at all unless you shout directly into his ear.
Mary I sent Algona Realty the link about a week ago. Didn't you get it?
Liam indecisiveness sounds a lot like my dad's, so you better figure out a way to speed him along now before he's 58 and can't even put on a coat and hat in under 20 minutes :) The man is thorough. His mother told me when he was little, it would take him an hour to pick out a matchbox car at the store.
So the dirty Canadians have 2 headhunters on their hockey team. If we play them again we need to lay the wood to a guy named Ryan and a guy named Nash.
Yesterday against the Russians Ryan was laid hard in a clean hit by a Russian. After the impact the Russian pursued the puck. Ryan came up behind him and put a WWF move on the Russian. He basically pulled him backward while knocking him off his skates, slamming the back of Russian's head hard against the ice.
In the previous game versus the US the dirty Canadian Nash kept plastering our smallish Johnson against the boards. Some hits were borderline.
Ryan and Nash need to go down HARD! The dirty Canadians need to go down AGAIN! Cheap shot artists they are.
Stevo and I started swimming this week. How can you have sore muscles from swimming? But we added three laps from our first session to our second and spent less time clinging to the side gasping so we rock.
I'm impressed too. I can't even make myself run outside if it's below 62 degrees.
The weather will not be perfect but they'll get some good days. Sunday is high of 70 and sunny. Monday is high of 72 and partly sunny. Tomorrow sunny but a little chillier and Saturday some rain.
Didn't you see that Russian guy throw an elbow behind him while he was standing in front of the Canadian bench and hitting some Canadian guy square in the face? He didn't get called for a penalty because the refs didn't see it.
The US will play Finland on Friday at 2:00 PM. If they beat Finland they will most likely play the Canadians in the Gold Medal game on Sunday. Finland has a really good goalie, but he is kind of a prima donna. He said that he would only join the team if he would be assured of the starting all the games for Finland.
I did see that elbow thrown at the Dirty Canadian bench. But I also saw the Dirt Bag Canadian in his face saying the worst things possible, I'm sure. A little elbow was fully warranted.
The skating world has recognized that the Russian should have won the gold medal. His routine was harder and he did it well. The winner's was more akin to ice dancing. At least this is what I have gathered.
This is something I find very disappointing, albeit of minor matter:
You buy an apple and it's not of the cheapest sort and it looks all shiny and hard and perfect and you wash it and take a first big bite and it's all soft and mealy.
I disagree about the Russian skater. He was technically great but that intangible something was just missing. He looked like he was going to the office. I want the guy who makes my car to be precise and perfect. I want the guy who does my skating (?) to look like he's pushing himself to the edge of a wipeout but not wiping out. Just living out there, everything riding on one thin blade.
USA Men's Hockey vs. Finland 2pm today. While I have nothing major against Finlanders I did discover while living in Duluth that they take a certain pride in being obnoxiously obstinate.
So does anyone have plans for Easter? Who wants to do an Easter egg hunt at MOm and Dad's again? I'm assuming Mom and Dad will be back from FL by then and I guess I'm assuming they won't mind if we invite ourselves over. The kids had lots of fun hunting for eggs in the big yard. Who's in?
Are there actually different curling events? The 100-meter curl? The half-pipe curl? The one where you curl a certain distance and then shoot a bow and arrow?
Cathy.. Sore muscles are common from swimming because you are using so many that you don't usually use. That's so great that you guys are swimming. Make sure to condition your hair.
Honey Crisps are the best bet but they are NOT a bargain! I've also had some bad apple luck recently and have found a friend in small Galas.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE! I know that book. here's a link to the free study guide, Monica, so Joe can give you quizzes: http://freakonomicsbook.com/freakonomics/study-guides/
Also, this made me shake my head: ANGRY LIBS LAUNCH COFFEE PARTY http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/02/25/AR2010022505517.html?hpid=topnews
We saw Lisa and Randy Saturday and Sunday. While the weather hasn't been balmy, they did go to the beach to wade, and Mom and Dad's outdoor pool is heated so they got to swim. Today is supposed to be sunny and 70, the best day of their trip (in terms of weather.) They all looked a little red yesterday. We went out to eat on Saturday at a German restaurant and last night at an Italian restaurant. Very good! p
We have been feeding the Milbrath's pets (except the fish, which is at the Richardson's keeping their kitty enthralled) and the hamster, Cookie Ice Cream Elephant Milbrath, wants to see humans but is scared of us, so she stays inside her little round house but pokes her head out and moves around with the house on her back - she looks like a furry turtle.
We had a great lunch with Mary and Mike and Caitlin at the Greek Islands yesterday, and of course they sent over a complimentary flaming cheese and an assortment of delicious desserts - so yummy. Oopa!!!
Darn that left over baclava (sp?) with chocolate drizzle. It's taunting me from the styrofoam leftover box in my fridge. I keep justifying taking "just one bite" but can't quite justify throwing it away. Yanni! You will be the death of my diet with your flaming cheeses and decadent free desserts.

I suggest chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

Let us know what you did and what you got!
Is it movie day today?

Happy Birthday Liam! Have a great one.
The few, the proud, the February birthdays!!! Happy birthday Liam! And happy belated birthdays to the other Kool Katz, Jude and Mia!
Happy birthday, Liam! Hope you got XYZ for your birthday!
Is Tessa Virtue a great name for a Canadian ice dancer or what? She could get rescued any minute by Dudley Dooright, RCMP.

Happy Birthday Liam. Jude wishes he could eat cake with you!!
ESPN suspended Kornheiser for remarks he made about Hannah Storm's outfit. I really liked him on PTI.

Do you consider Dairy Queen fast food?
i want a chili cheese dog from dairy queen...
Drive thru = fast food.
What if it's a Dairy Queen with no drive through? We had Mc Donald's french fries in the house two times last week and I ate not a one.
It's actually kind of slow; at least the one here is.
Happy Birthday Liam! What are the birthday plans?

I'm impressed...it's hard to swim when it's sooo cold outside!
Seriously impressed.
Are the Milbrath's on a plane to West Palm right now?
Pat, I did not get the link!!
They're leaving this afternoon sometime. I hope they have nice weather. I told Mary to bring me back a manatee but she was oblivious.

I just came up with a million dollar idea! Professional Women's Curling League. All major cities reprsented.....uniforms are to be bikinis.
Who's in?
Tom
I used to work with one of the women on the US Curling team, she's in HR at TDS.

mealy apples - bummer.
Buy Honey Crisp apples. Braeburn are hit or miss. Red Delicious aren't.
Tom
...aren't delicious.
Red Delicious are the most nutritious of the apples. It's that dark red skin. But no, they don't taste the best. Honey Crisp are expensive.
Monica
I was just thinking the apples aren't great this time of year. I've tried several varieties recently.
Has anybody seen the Russian Woman's Curling Team? They should have gotten medals just for showing up.

That's it! Trump and I are taking this thing global. The Moscow Maulers will be the first team.

Curling is big on Wall Street too:

OK, so two people curl. What do the other 27 do?
Are there actually different curling events? The 100-meter curl? The half-pipe curl? The one where you curl a certain distance and then shoot a bow and arrow?
Could it be that there's a dustpan involved?
The WBCF (World Bikini Curling Federation) will adopt will adopt Olympic rules for scoring and time keeping. Some adjunct rules may address attire.
Tom
I wouldn't want to skid along the ice on my knee wearing a bikini. Of course, no one would want to see me doing such either.
I want Mary to bring me back a manatee, too!
i wish i knew the rules for hockey. trying to watch the US/Canada game.
