Did you see the video of an octopus or squid using a coconut shell? The shell had been floating on the ocean until it split open and sank and somehow this octopus was filmed dragging one half of the shell to its preferred site and then going back for the other half. When it got both halves where it wanted them, it crawled into the bottom half and pulled the other half over it like a lid. Apparently much more intentional and tool-using type behavior than scientists had expected. It was very cute.
thanks all, had a good birthday. bought a macbook pro, had dinner with Pat and Emily at the Cheeky Monkey (first 2 places were an hour wait, this one ended up being great, glad it worked out that way). all in all, a good birthday.
It felt a little chilly when I got up this am. I turned on the radio to get the weather report. The overnight low was -30. The temp at 8 o'clock was -28. The windchill at 8 was -44. The high today will be -9 and the overnight low tonight will be -15. We are looking forward to Florida. However, it is supposed to warm up a little on Wednesday, the day we plan to leave. Perhaps we should stick around and enjoy some of that "warmer" weather.
If you have not called in or emailed your Pfizer/Computershare number, please do so. I'm going to send everything in on Monday.
Dropped Pat off at the airport 56 min. before her flight back to FL this morning and she didn't make it. She left several hours later and flew thru Detroit rather than direct. She's actually in Detroit now and she should have been home a couple hours ago.
Good luck getting on the flight tomorrow! Another storm system is supposed to move through on Tuesday night and through Wednesday. I'm not sure what it says for Northwest Iowa, but here in Omaha we could get another 4 - 6 inches Wednesday and into Thursday.
Cathy says Fr. Dan walked from Queen of Apostles to Holy Family to say mass Christmas morning! A liturgical hero.
I am home. Instead of a direct flight arriving home at 2:30, I ended up through Detroit arriving home around midnight. Annoying. But, I guess, traveling after the holidays one can expect such things.
It was 40 degrees here this morning. No higher than the 60s all week.

It's snowing for your birthday. Go have some fun.

Happy Birthday, Frank! Treat yourself to a food you've never had. Not Tasmanian yogurt balls.
I feel like I'm living on the snowy mountain in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Will it ever stop snowing?
Frank - go eat seafood paella with tiny baby squid in it.
Lisa
Oooh, poor little baby squid.

Octopi and large squid are thought to be as smart as dogs. But I still love calamari.
Happy birthday frank!

Happy Belated Birthdays! Just remember...it's only a number. That thought is what keeps me young.

Dad
Well, I was going to get on and brag about our 17 below, 32 below wind chill but never mind. Can I come with you?
Mom and Dad's house phone isn't working...here's his cell # just in case you don't have it...515-341-4104.

Pat, are you home yet?
Happy Birthday, Dad! Going out to dinner tonight?
That was me. I'm praying for a snow day tomorrow. Help me out.

P
sounds like paradise!
I am not praying for a snow day tomorrow. I am tired of shoveling and I do not wish to have to make up work hours that I have missed.
Sorry, Cathy.
