So, I was trying to upload a post that included John McCain's photo, and I tried three different photos all from different websites, and they all appeared blank in the blog. Other presidential hopefuls photos worked just fine. So, it's official. John McCain is a witch.

Here's another letter to the editor from our St. Paul, Pioneer Press
Tainted: To whoever hit and killed my beloved cat, Iggy, Nov. 4 just west of Johnson Parkway on Phalen Boulevard. Iggy was such a curious little guy and impossible to keep indoors. I worried constantly about something like this happening and my worst fears happened.
I believe this was an accident and Iggy shouldn't have been trying to cross the boulevard. But there were woods on the other side. Iggy had on a collar with tags which included my address and phone number. I was only a block away. It wouldn't have taken very much time to bring him to me, call me, or come and get me. It would have spared me 17 hours of worry and anguish before I finally found his body. Within two hours of that horrible discovery, 10 of my closest friends and myself had a funeral for little Iggy in my back yard. That is how much Iggy was loved.

Poor Iggy.
did Iggy pop?
Unfortunately, Garrigan and Dyersville Beckman both lost in the first round. Last night the kids and I watched CR Xavier beat Bettendorf at the UNI-Dome. They will play SE Polk for the championship next Friday. SE Polk beat the powerhouse Valley. It is the first time at state for both teams in the championship. Joe K.
What class is that?
Ok...
Emma's sick so I've missed quite a few days of blogging...
I am SO happy that Jim and Erin will be closer! Yea!
As for the wallpaper behind the toilet, put on a face mask & long sleeves and get in there as close as you can. You may be pulling off fingernail sized pieces of wall paper. When it's so small that no one will notice, I would no longer worry. What bathroom? The one downstairs near the entry?
I have three more doors to go and I am done with the trim on the upstairs landing.
Miss you all!
Poor cat
I have never stopped for a an animal that I have hit.
Ed, that is class 4A. Xavier is one of the smallest in the class with about 700-800 students and SE Polk has about 1300-1500. The headline in the sports section read "A thing from God" quoting one of our lineman. With less than two minutes left and the score tied at 14, Bettendorf was at our 2-yard line on second down when a lineman bumped their running back, the ball popped into one of our player's hands and he sprinted for 95 yards. Our crowd was ecstatic, Bettendorf's numb. It was a great game between two closely matched teams. So what's the hot stock tip today?
Lisa, how many animals have you hit? I have never hit anything except bugs and one bird.
I have hit a cat once... years ago, perhaps in my 20s? And I have hit squirrel and once on a back road in southern Iowa, after I missed the turn-off to the Cash farm, I rolled over something big that was gone by the time I stopped the car and tried to see what it was. Creepy. Opossum, perhaps? This was shortly before the farmer with a shot gun, a chaw, overalls and a beard to his mid-section gave me directions back to the farm. GHe told me something like,"Follow north along the timber." I didn't know if that meant the timber would be on my north side or if I would be driving north.
That farmer was your brother Joe deer-hunting.
Oh and Lisa, what wrong with Emma? Is she better?
Emma gets everything. Cold, cough, drainage, fever, achy.

It's Ellen's bathroom so I don't care too much but I have started on the one on the main floor and I foresee the same problem. Ellen's all came off fairly easily. This one is a bit... Afer this is Tom and Peter's bedroom.
What's wrong with Emmalou?
I hit a dog once but was too scared to stop because it was huge. I was afraid it would bite me. Plus it was like two in the morning near Carroll(spelling?).
I hope he died quickly.
who has a funeral and invites their ten friends? i mean, for their cat.

Anyone looking to add Omega 3 fatty acids to your diet but don't want to cook salmon three times a week? Eat a third cup of walnuts. They are an excellent source of omega 3's. Better yet, munch on them right before dinner to take the edge off and you'll be less likely to over-eat. The only hard part is stopping at one-third cup.
Hey, where is everyone? Jude is napping and I don't want to go through this big pile of mail I am supposed to make files for. I think we should all call Monica cute little gerbil.
So 2 days before we find out we are moving, we get a leak and a big wet spot in the ceiling of our family room. Called a plumber, he took our money for coming out to look and then said it was the roof. We called a roofer, he took our money for coming out to look and then said it was the plumbing. I think we will just paint it and hope it doesn't re-occur.
Otherwise, we got a lot done this weekend. It is amazing how many you always wanted to get done, actually get done when it is time to move.
Jim...Maybe it was John McCain, the witch! Do you have property disclosure forms there (when you list a house)? Or, if relo will buy the house, they don't have disclosures...at any rate you may not need to mention the ceiling!
I think that means McCain is a vampire, not a witch. I hit a deer once and had no choice about stopping and then for a year deer were traveling miles just to jump in front of my car. Once in Gary, Ind. Stevo and I heard a thump coming through the town after Plover last time we came to Whittemore and (true confession time) he wanted to stop and go back and I wouldn't let him. It was late at night and I was imagining us getting caught trying to put someone's kitty out of its misery or something, like the bunny THAT WOULDN'T DIE once when we were driving around with Mike and Mary
Our former music director (the one who lured 3 priests away in her lifetime so far) had a funeral for her cat when it died with songs, and friends invited, and a sort of wake afterward with wine and chocolate and went around grief-stricken for days. She said her kids were devastated but they looked OK to me.
Re last post: I meant a deer jumped in front of my car once in Gary. New sentence: Stevo and I heard a thump, etc.
Every morning now Mia says to Molly, "Let's go shopping."
i hit an albatross once, and man, you don't EVEN want to hear what came of that.
Jim & Erin - Paint your ceiling with primer first so the spot doesn'tbleed through.
Probably the most I'd do if I hit a cat would be to back up and finish him off.
I wouldn't have taken Iggy up to his owner. Can you imagine her reaction? She'd eventually start asking about how fast I was going, was I looking for animals, etc. She might even try to kill me, just like I did her beloved Iggy. Heck with that.
Was Iggy Pop the alter/ego of David Bowie?
I had to stop going home for lunch because there was a gaggle of geese crossing the road. The way they were moving I didn't think that they cared one way or the other if they got hit or not.
mary, that was ziggy stardust. iggy pop is a punk rocker, sang the song Lust For Life and rolled around on broken glass onstage.
and since they blocked the feral cat hunting bill in Wisconsin last year i'm forced to run them over.
Ed, what do you do for lunch now? brown bag?
Who remembers when Bonnie got hit? It turned out to be Dennis Kollasch, didn't it? That was so terrible the way she yelped up to the house dragging her hind quarters. Poor thing. I wish she would have just died right away.
how did Mia develop such a love for shopping? She's speaking in full sentences? Jude's only sentences/phrases: 1. Where's the ball? 2. Where's the choo choo? 3. Where's the meow? 4.Where's Bubba? (his blanket) 5. Where's Jude? 6. Where's the truck?7.What's that?
He will have an explosion of language soon. Does he really say truck or does it sound like fu...
That's what my kids always did. It was always good for a laugh.
Truck comes out sounding like something equally funny as fu... He says cock. which is also duck, sock, and clock. This morning in his crib while talking to himself it was, "up...noun...up....noun"
Ok enough baby talk, sorry if I get annoying everyone. I can't help myself. Just call me Kathy Lee Gifford.
Creighton rolled over their opponent last night in their home opener.
What do you all think of Giuliani? I think he has a shot at winning.
I bought the Creighton package on the computer this year and watched the game last night (kind of).
Creighton really killed those deamon devils.
I think Giuliani has a chance if he gets out of the primary. It is funny. It could be a repeat of the NY Senate race with Hillary vs. Giuliani.
Ok
Giuliani
John McCain or
John Edwards?
In a battle royal?
I will take Giuliani because McCain is gimpy from Vietnam and John Edwards would probably hide behind the massive frame of his wife.
I'd pick McCain. I like Giuliani, but I just don't know about him as Pres. Edwards is just too bland.
I don't know enough about Guiliani. I know he "cleaned up" Times Square, and it needed it, and he's an effective speaker. The thing about Hilary is that I have such a distaste for her that I'd rather vote for Iggy the cat. She's worked hard to appear more moderate, but in her bones she's a big-government liberal democrat with the firm conviction that she knows what's best for us and she knows just the laws to get it done. I do know that it would drive republicans wild that she could be president. They pursued Bill with mindless, slavering zealotry through the last days of his administration and I think it made them sort of insane that they couldn't take him out. The same hatred will reawaken if Hilary is the candidate. The republicans will really get the vote out on this one. On the other hand, the democratic machinery will do great getting out their constituencies (especially delivering big numbers from minorities, gays, women) but there will be a lot of people like me who vote democratic year in and year out who will have trouble voting for her.
Another prediction-the dems are at a high point right now but mid-term doesn't mean squat. They're leading at halftime. The republicans now have 2 years to blame everything on the dems and it will be blame well-placed to the average dummy.
Really? Edwards bland? I think he seems very energetic. As for the battle royale, I think McCain could maybe take Giuliani. And of course Edwards has youth on his side. Hillary can take em all.
Em,
i don't think hillary can win. if she gets the nod, i'll bet you $50 that she loses, no matter who ends up running against.
I know you're right about Hillary not winning if she gets the Dem nod. I know I am going to take some heat for this, so bring it on: With respect to all the white males, I think it's high time we had someone other than a white male for president.
Do you have any good ideas who? And don't say Hillary because I said good ideas.
my friend Jamie is rooting for an Obama/Clinton ticket. which won't happen.
Joe is right about the Republicans unleashing the lions on Hillary. It will get ugly. As for another female, I don't know, but what is your big problem with Hillary? I don't think she's so bad. I would vote for her. But if I had to choose between Hill and Obama, I think I would vote for Obama, but I am not sure, need to learn more.
Nice is not the same as bland.
The East Coast Democrats are really showing their geographic chauvinism on the Hilary issue - they write off the whole middle 2/3 of the country (where dislike of Hilary looms large) as irrelevant. They better get their heads out of their pants and smell the coffee, black please, no lattes or triple mochas skim with a shot of whatever. If the Republicans float a candidate a centrist Democrats could stomach, the dems are in trouble. On the other hand, I think the last election shows just how far right the Republicans have drifted and that people don't like it. I predict a big shift toward the middle from both parties, with Nancy Pelosi coming out on top. OK, that last part was just trying to get a rise out of Tom.
I think Obama will get tons of attention. He's more palatable than Hillary. I agree we need a woman or minority pres, but don't think Hillary is a good option.
Hey, is it possible that someone outside the family gets on our blog? I mean, it is the internet. I just picture some net-surfing jerk inserting smartass comments under an anon post because he doesn't know any one and doesn't care if they're offended.
Also, when you write something, you know how you mean it, but people reading it don't hear voice inflection or see facial expression that go with the comment, so a comment meant in fun or sarcasm can be read as insulting or rude by someone else.
Is it Hilary with one "l"? Joe and Cathy are smart. Frank and Ed, you're smart too, but the three of us spelled Hillary.
Em, Braden had highly developed language skills earlier than both my boys. I think it's a female brain/male brain thing. Funny, both the boys had highly developed gross moter skills (football, baseball, interest in physical sports) way earlier than Braden. And farting/burping humor. Again, I think it's the biological gender thing. Cuz it's not like we treat them much differently.
ok nevermind, it is two "l" Hillary. Joe and Cathy, you're still smart. Grace too. Two L's.
I coached Braden's 4-5 year old soccer team two years ago and it drove me insane when I'd tell her to go after the ball and she was like, "I don't want to sweat, mom." She and three other little girls stood around gossiping the whole time while all the boys and one or two girls actually played. But when I coached 7-year-olds, a much higher percentage of girls were into the game and some were very competitive.
At this point in her life, Braden's highest aspirations are to be sixteen, a cheerleader, and own a guitar.
She's pretty cool.
I'm not worried about Jude's language development. I can tell he understands most of what we say and he probably has a 100 word vocab which seems to increase daily. I was worried when he didn't walk for sooooooo long though. His fine motor skills are good, gross motor skill a little slow I think.
how is his fart/belch humor developing?
Joe Jayjack didn't have much to say when he was little. I decided everything was pretty much OK by him and he felt no need to talk.
I really like Obama. As far as Hillary, the Gallup poll numbers are very good for her, (unless people are lying) but Obama is creeping up on her numbers. I really like Bill Clinton, I'm not crazy about Hillary.
Rudy will have to sell out to the conservative wing of his party, McCain is already doing it...I REALLY like Chuck Hagel from nebraska.
Vote for Vilsack! He was an orphan just like Hoover. Tom is a good name. And his spouse hasn't used her influence to have sex with an intern.
Peter had his first conference today . The teacher told me that he is very quiet and reserved. I about fell off my seat. This is the one that we constantly have to tell, "You have to let other people talk sometimes." We can't get him to shut up at the dinner table long enough to eat.
Scott just called and said he has a funny story about Warren Beatty and Anette Benning. He's been staying in Bev. Hills that last 4 nights because he was doing protection fro some Israeli foreign minister and I guess they were at some event last night.
What's the story?
Ellen's teachers used to tell us the same thing about her and we had the same reaction.
Guiliani moved his girlfriend into Gracie Mansion while he was still married to someone else. Aside from any moral or ethical considerations, I think that speaks to his arrogance and bad judgement. On the other hand, who wouldn't want to watch video of when his kid was acting up during his speeches for the next two years?
he's back!
