Actually...Joe4 and I are the only November Birthdays. And, we're on the same day! Whadupwihdat?

95 yards, yes it sounds like something was amiss. At least Joe was stellar. Good job Joe.
Here's my good news. Josh actually watched a football game by himself and came down to give me reports of plays. This is a dream come true. He has disliked organized televised sports since I met him.

whats the plan for Thanksgiving?

Anonymous said...

Turkey.

Anonymous said...

Jim...are you guys comin'? If so...will you be bringing Turducken?

Anonymous said...

We can't come for turkey day, but we just bought our tickets for Christmas. $860. ouch! We kept thinking prices would go down, but they actually went up a little each week, so we figured we'd better buy them. When is everyone getting in for Christmas?

Happy Birthday Mely. Are you guys gonna make it for Christmas?

Ed X said...

I think that for Thanksgiving we should have Indian food. I love curry.

Anonymous said...

turkey curry.

Anonymous said...

Mely rocks! Pete sucks for having to work.
My Mom asks about you all the time.
You guys gotta come home someday soon!

Anonymous said...

I really don't doubt that Joe is a nice guy. In fact I am sure he is. But, what did you expect the kid to say?

Anonymous said...

Ed, I would love to fix curry the next time I see you. Maybe chicken curry. Turkey gets too dry when curried. I found some red curry powder. Its soo... hot. your mouth will glow for hours and yours stomach will burns for days(sound painful) but it is good eatin'.

Pat, What football game did Josh get hooked on?

Mely, Happy Birthday!!!

Erin

Anonymous said...

Erin, will you make chicken curry for me too? And the yummy bread? What do you call it- Chapati or naan? Or, you could post the recipe.

Anonymous said...

I LOVE INDIAN FOOD.
perhaps we should make erin cook us a meal next time they visit.
Erin, I have no idea what game he was watching but he thought it was the best game he'd ever seen. which means the best of, like, 6 games.
p

Anonymous said...

Emily and Pat, its a deal! I'll cook indian for you. The indian bread I am useto, is Roti(Rotie) like pita bread. For me to post the recipe, the blog needs to have smellavision.

If we had a turkey curry buffet we would be like Bridget Jones' mom.

Mmmm curry. I think I know what to make for dinner.

Mely, a movie with Pete and friends sounds like the perfect birthday.

I want to go Christmas shopping but think I am going home to clean instead. Yea!

Erin, I bet the best game Josh ever saw was the Iowa-Northwestern game...! Josh went to Northwestern!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELY!
Hope it was fun, wish we could have been there to celebrate! Love you... Mike and Mary

Mike and I just had a great Notre Dame weekend with Mom and Dad...Thursday night in Chicago with Ed, Des and Phelan, dinner at a great old Italian restaurant...stayed at Desmond's, then drove on into South Bend (Dad found a great hotel in a little town right on Lake Michigan but only 30 min. into Notre Dame) We went to St. Mary's visited Caitlin, Mom had fun telling stories about when she was there. Had dinner that night with Bonnie McFadden and her friend and Caitlin. Game day, of course, was fun and the game was great. Then after Mass Dad took all of us and Caitlin's friend Paige to dinner at the University Club...(Paige told a story about a Halloween party she went to at Brady Quinn's house. Quinn was dressed as a jar of mustard and Ndukwe was a ketchup bottle) It was an elegant dinner. Next morning we left for Iowa, and had a delicious dinner in Des Moines at Lisa and Randy's.
It was just a great weekend and it was so nice to be together with our kids and Mom and Dad!
The game tickets were supposed to be Joe's, but with the playoffs, he had to change his plans. When Garrigan lost (and he could have gone to the game) he graciously declined.

It was GREAT to see Mom and Dad and Mary and Mike!

This morning as Mary Laurel was looking for mittens, I told her the pink ones would work, and she said, "No, I'm looking for something a little more appropriate."

Ed X said...

Yeah - we had a good dinner on Thrursday nignt. Mom and Dad and Mike and Mary picked me up in Naperville and we all drove down to Desmond's place. I then rode the train back and I actually missed the train that I was trying to catch. I had to wait an hour and 10 min for the next one and the bar at the train station had already closed. I didn't get home until 1:00 - but it was fun.

I had some Lamb Vindeloo this weekend on Sat as I watched the ND game. It was delicous!

Ed X said...

Oh - I forgot to say. My hard drive crashed and I had to buy a new one. ALL of my pictures I had on the hard drive are now gone (along with everything else).

Let me tell you - it is a pain in the ass when this happens and it is sooo easy to guard against. Everyone - please back up your hard drives. On the bright side - since I had the computer open I installed a new video card and can now play the latest video games.

Fun fun fun.

I met some kids this weekend that knew Joe IV. They were either freshman in college or seniors in high school. They all said they liked him a lot. Seniors maybe?

In October, when Turkey's prime minister Tayyip Erdogan fainted from low blood sugar, his security team rushed him to a hospital but mistakenly locked him and the keys inside his fortified car; after they pounded on it for a while, a nearby construction worker with a sledgehammer saved the day. We might have a party, my fine husband and I. It was a dismal fall and we've decided to have fun. Will you all come? We can't sleep you all...we think we are going to invite Everyone.

If Nance could be at the restaurant on weekends, especially the bar, that would really help.

I think anonymous postings are lame.

Ed X said...

Nancy - Don't call Mely lame.

Mely - the Big Lebowski rocks. They have Lebowski fests from time to tome around the country. I think that they have one in Austin from time to time. Hope you had a good birthday.

Everyone - Bill Clinton called me last night and asked me to vote for Rob Blagojevich. He didn't listen to a word I had to say and just kept rambling on and on.

Anonymous said...

Mary,
Are you a Hawkeye Hater?

Jim, tell us about your lucky socks.

Anonymous said...

I have 5 messages on my machine every day when I come home telling me why I should vote for (fill in the blank). I'm voting for the person who's name I don't recognize on the ballot because they haven't called me to tell me about themselves.

Anonymous said...

Vote for me, A. Nonymous!

Anonymous said...

But did you wear your lucky underwear? You're screwed without it.

Anonymous said...

Lucky socks are good as long as you didn't wash them after your last sucessful interview!
Am I a hawkeye hater? hmmmm, it's not good to hate...I just thought Hawkeye fan Erin would like to know that Josh went to Northwestern!
Some in my family say THE BIG LEB. is their fav. movie, I have not seen it yet!

Anonymous said...

I am voting for Cathy for governor and Tom for lt. gov. because I am SO disappointed with all the choices.

Anonymous said...

Hoya, Hoya! Just voted for a regime change! Except for the king and his evil courtiers, of course. For the first time in my entire life, when I finished I realized I could have voted a straight ticket. For the first time in my entire life, I nixed a judge (she was rude and crabby to Stevo and assessed him court costs on a ticket he shouldn't have gotten and she knew it) and so did all our friends. Maybe the king will be forced to sign a Magna Carta or two. I've never seen our precinct so busy. There was a lady with a walker who said it took her an hour to walk there but she declined a ride home but did let Stevo help her up the steps. I love America on Election Day.

Anonymous said...

I must graciously decline the gubernatorial seat. I'm going on a cruise and will be out of the country on swearing-in day. I did consider the Green Party candidate for that one, but I didn't know anything about her.

Anonymous said...

Cruise? Tell more. I voted for someone i know will lose for gov., the independent party candidate. But the incumbant is way too conservative for my tastes and the democrat is a sleazeball.

Does anyone else think the commercial with the thousands of scissors snapping up credit cards is kind of scary?

Anonymous said...

yeah... who exactly is controlling these scissors? and are they really in control or are the scissors only waiting to strike at their master? creepy indeed...

Anonymous said...

I sort of like that commercial.

Anonymous said...

I like the vonage commercial with the girl who want to play with the "dolphins"

Ed X said...

Lisa - I know what you mean. I was set on voting for this woman running for our Rep. because I saw so many commercials saying why I shouldn't vote for her. She is a veteren from Iraq and lost both of her legs. Then I found out that she wants to cut and run so I can't vote for her.

But I can't vote for the other guy either since he got us into Iraq.

So - I am not voting.

Anonymous said...

Ed~ I don't consider a post, "anonymous," when a person signs their name. So, Mely...no, you are not lame! :-) :-) :-)

Anonymous said...

A modest proposal:
Anonymous postings are fine for little non-personal jokes or statements. If someone wants to address a member of the (extended) family, they should have the guts to add their names. There is no way to enforce this, except by common consent, in which cases Anonymous would at least know that he/she is unanimously regarded as a boor.

Anonymous said...

I considered not voting but ...

The fact that Chuck Behr used the little energy he had on his next to last day of life to fill out his absentee ballot made me feel like a weenie if I didn't so I voted.

By the way, Anonymous is usually a boor, but sometimes so funny that we wouldn't want to squash his/her creativity. Stand up and be counted, anonymous. Sometimes I like you!

Please note that the above statement does not have any relation whatsoever to those who both click anonymous and type their name.

Anonymous said...

I am not voting today because I have not registered in CA yet and even if I was registered I have no idea who I would vote for (or actually against, which is more often the case). I know that's a lame excuse, but it is what it is.

Anonymous said...

Well, maybe I would if I knew who you were!

Anonymous said...

I also like the sleep aid (Rozarem I think) commercail with Lincoln and the beaver.

Anonymous said...

it is I, Alexander Pope! kiss it!

Anonymous said...

I like the nice one where everyone sees everyone else doing little good deeds and then they do it and someone else sees them and so on.
Lincoln is so funny in that rozarem one.

Anonymous said...

You are not Alexander Pope. He's dead.

Clicking Anonymous and signing your name is perfectly acceptable.

Catherine and Mia came over to jump in our 4-foot tall pile of leaves. Mia loves getting thrown into the leaves but she hates them touching her face, so every time she landed and got buried in leaves she froze perfectly still and serious until we dug her out.
The sun is slanting in under the awnings of my office windows in such a delightfully 75-degree way that I must leave work immediately.

Anonymous said...

It is a beauty of a day...I have a 6:30 appt. so I'm just waiting at the office, but I took a long walk yesterday after work and then sat on the porch with a glass of wine...70 degrees! Tomorrow I RAKE!

I voted. This gives me the right to complain. It also entitles me to win any political argument against anyone who doesn't vote. Too bad it's mid-term. I always liked staying up and watching results in presidential years.

Anonymous said...

Happy birthday Mely. I hope Pete got you something nice.
