A Jubo athlete named Elena Ivashchenko...it's a girl.
Also, I think we can get directv at the farm. I talked to the directv dealer in Des Moines and they have a used mobile dish with cable and aligning tool for a one time cost of $100. They said this is used for camping and tailgating. All you have to do is bring an existing directv box, align the dish and plug it in and it should work. I thought this would be good to have for use at the farm, no more missed games! I could go ahead and get this if people would be interested. I would keep it at my house but anyone would be able to borrow it/take it to the farm anytime they wanted to. Let me know and I will get it early if interested and make sure it works for the games over labor day weekend.
I am in on the DirectTV as well. This is a really good idea because the Notre Dame game is being played in Ireland this year and will be televised at like 8 or 9 in the morning here (so the bars won't be open).
Andy, That's great news. We will spring for the full cost if you look after the arrangements. And it sounds like you've already figured out most of the details. Mom & Dad
Catie babysat for the Milbraths all summer, saved almost all her money, and today purchased a laptop and 26" LCD tv for her new room. #proud mom I remember that feeling of accomplishment, spending the money I made from my first "real" job.
Way to go, Catie! All the rooms are ready, that baby can come any time now!
We had a great cousins week, did almost everything you can do in the CB/Omaha area (LOTS of hiking) and the kids, weirdly, watched The Fantastic Mr. Fox about 10 times (there were other movies available, but they became a cult of Mr. Fox groupies) Stevo and I are tired. Lake Manawa is bright green this summer. The Loess Hills are brown. Oscar excitedly showed me the replica of the 1-shot derringer that "John Wilkes Boof used to shoot Habraham Lincoln."
Good for Catie! That's awesome! And good for the Jayjack grandparents! Molly, did you do something to yous house to prepare for baby?
Jude has been saving his $3/wk allowance and birthday and Christmas $ since Christmas. He has about $130 saved and is going to buy a Nintendo DS which I think costs about $180. I told him I would get him his first game when he had enough money saved for the DS. I am pretty impressed by his saving.
That's awesome Jude! We built Catie a bedroom in the basement, which ended up being the biggest in the house, re carpeted the stairs., Mia moved to Caties old room and got some new furniture. The boys will share the room right next to ours, which we painted and carpeted. Now our room is the worst but it will be a while before we can do anything about that.
Phone rings at work. "Are you guys open today?" "Um, yes, can I help you with anything?" "Well we went to that baptism class last fall and we didn't get around to it, but I thought I could come by and get a baptism for my son." Long silence. "Well, Father's not here right now, but how about if I have him call you?" "Okay, but I'll only be here 'til noon."
Stevo and I went to see Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter last night at the cheap theater. There were two skinheads a couple rows in front of us and they had obviously seen the movie before. One was texting all through the first part of it, and then they both got up and walked out halfway throuth it. I spent the rest of the movie glancing over my shoulder, expecting them to return with axes and start the head-chopping. I actually made an escape plan and a fight back plan.
There are 2 theaters we go to here for movie watching. One to the west and one to the east. Both are huge megaplexes - 20 and 16 screens.
I would say about 70% of the time we go to the one to our west because it is closer. The one to the east we do frequent fairly often.
Anyway, the one to the east was the scene of an arrest 2 nights ago. An off duty cop was in the theater (as a movie goer) and noticied a guy with a satchel acting strangly. By the way, this was a showing of Batman.
The long and short of it is this guy had a loaded gun in the bag with 3 and several knives. Who knows what he had planned?
On a similar note, about 5 "Occupy Cleveland" dirt bags we arrested earlier this year because they tried to buy explosives from an undercover investigator so they could blow up a local bridge. Not some minor bridge going over a creek but a bridge servicing a fairly well traveled road. For contextual purposes - a highway much like highway 141 that feeds into NW Des Moines.
The mug shots showed a gang of scurvy, unshowered, street living anarchists. It wasn't long before one of them turned state's evidence...Ratting the rest out.
Yeah, They had to take out more than they planned, but no ear. They took out some and sent it to the lab who told them to get more. The doctor told me while they were putting on the bandage that they ended up cutting out a piece about 2" long and 1 and 1/4" wide. I don't think any of it is ear. I think it is all on the slull right behind the right ear. It doesn't hurt and the most inconvenient thing is the dressing. It is so big that they have to attach it with something that looks like a headband or a garter that stretches across my forehead and looks rediculous. I have to preach the homily tomorrow but I don't think I'll have to wear the garter. Dad

Catie's a great babysitter! She does things to keep the kids from getting bored and talks to them about things that interest them. Yea, Catie!
