Andy, we can make Buffalo Chicken Strata for the tailgate breakfast! Also, Joe said you've been experimenting with wing recipes?

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the farm!

We're very excited for the first football tailgate of the year. I'm making Caroline a little ISU skirt now. hopefully we'll actually be able to watch the game. Notre Dame fabric is hard to find around here.

I'm making jalapeno cheese rolls and pumpkin sweet rolls for the tailgate breakfast, mac and cheese for whatever meal needs it, and zucchini tarts because I have a lot of zucchini to use. When is everyone arriving? We'll be there Friday evening.

Ellen:

You can tie blue gaue or netting and gold netting around an elastic band that has been cut and tied to fit Caroline's waist.

Mary's new clarinet

Mary's starting band and will be playing the clarinet.

Randy went to Schmitt music to find out how much this was going to set us back: $800 FOR A NEW RESIN COMPOSITE CLARINET! $800 FOR WHAT IS BASICALLY A FANCY PLASTIC RECORDER!

We ended up meeting someone at dusk on Sunday night in the Target parking lot to purchase from him a made in Paris wooden clarinet with silver keys for $250

See ya!

Did he keep glancing over his shoulder? Did he have other stuff for sale cheap? Was there a dismantled copper church downspout in his trunk?

Craigslist has careful/suspicious people all over the country meeting in big-box parking lots like drug dealers. I wonder how you sell furniture or appliances.

Em said...

I sold something on Craigslist just yesterday. I met her out front while I was mowing. I know you're not supposed to do that, but I wasnt going to load the kids in the car and hang out at a parking lot. I made $100 which I immediately put towards the purchase of the new, larger tent we needed.

RNC Convention - ho hum.

I watched every speech last night in MSNBC. Speeches were pretty boring. Santorum has a despicable appearance about him. Ann Romney did fine. Christie was unimpressive.

The thing that got me was Chris Matthews would comment afterwards and twist what they said into something racial. As though the whole party leadership is full of racists.

He's getting worse in his old age.

we bought the class pet, a snake, off of craigslist. i went with the teacher to pick it up, she didn't want to go to some strange dudes house all alone, and I don't blame her.

i picked up the beer for the beer floats for this weekend. you are all in for a treat.

Beware of ticks this weekend!

Also there have been cases of whatever it is the mosquitos spread (not malaria, wise guy) so don't skimp on the spray.
Things one might bring, were one so inclined:

Toilet paper(urgent)
forks
trash bags
food storage bags
lighter fluid

we're bringing hot dogs and a few sausages, buns and trimmings for a lunch, BLT noodle salad, cucumber salad, brownies, and some stuffed little sweet pepper poppers for the tailgate, and pancake fixins. Lisa pointed out that Dad won't be there to make potato salad - anybody want to tackle it?

Em said...

I can make the potato salad! I love making potato salad. It won't be Dad's but it'll be good. Should I make it here and bring it or is it possible to make there?
We will be getting in late Friday night and have to leave Sunday afternoon bc I have my fantasy football draft Monday afternoon and Scott and Jude have wiffle ball practice. I will be looking for FFball draft suggestions.

Em said...

We will also bring toilet paper and trash bags.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Em! Say, those are some pretty lightweight excuses - fantasy and whiffles? We should all talk about the BIG dinner - Dad says it's always on Sunday (I can't remember) but if so, should we have it early? Or do people think Saturday night would be better? Weigh in, people.

Anonymous said...

That was me

Cathy

Em said...

Um, well, the meal has always been on Sunday. But if people are up for Saturday I certainly wouldn't object.
I kow they are lightweight excuses, but in my league you have to be present for the draft. This is my first year playing. If I don't love it, I won't play next year.

Em said...

Oh, and we will bring a bunch of lunch meat at cheese and bread for sandwiches.

We NEED locker burgers!

Anonymous said...

I'm up for Saturday dinner. We have to leave Sunday. We are staying at the Leon hotel...we don't own a tent.

I'll bring some fruit to add to the breakfast buffet and wine, bubbly waters, sausage, etc. for the weekend.

I won't weigh in in front of anyone!

The RNC should have had that woman from Utah, Mia Love, on during primetime...she been the best speaker to date...of course, as Chris Matthews would say, it's because she's Black. Oh yes, forgot...Condy Rice gave a good speech.
Dad and Joe are on their way, they both looked so happy!

Lisa Sez:

Two desserts (do ya want more?)
Maybe fixin's for toasted specials (to help us think of Ireland).

Any requests that I can fulfill easily?

Cathy - any assignments? That I can fulfill easily.

How many are coming...so I know how many potatoes to buy.

I'll bring some soup for whenever and a veg for the dinner.

Just spoke with Mary who was out with Mom. She had talked to Dad Wo called from Atlanta. Dad said the airplane was full of people going to the game. The flight attendant said it was the biggest sporting event that Amaercans had ever travelled overseas for, other Han the Olympics.

Have fun in Leon. Wish we could be there. We will be home for Christmas.

Sorry for all the terrible typos. I didn't get the potato salad made last night, but I have all the stuff and will make it Saturday morning. The only problem is I don't think I have enough cider vinegar and I'm not going back to the store. I am hoping we will get there by 8 tonight. Its pretty dark my about 8:30 now so I really want to try and get there to set up the tent before it gets too dark.

c said...

Emily I was making a joke. Light weight - whiffle balls? I have a small amount of cider vinegar so I'll throw it in. Anybody got good crackers? Fr. Paul just gave me some goat cheese. It's slicy, not spready, but very tasty!

Clint, Clint, we barely knew ye! That's what a script is for, Buddy.

Em said...

What the heck was with Clint? Confusing.
I do want to get out of MPLS around 1-2, but I am so sad to miss GH. (that's General Hospital). Jerry Jax poisoned the water supply and the citizens of Port Charles only have 48 hours to live. And Anna Devane is so close to finding her presumed dead daughter, Robin. Fridays are always the best episodes.

Frank said...

you're probably all already on the road, but i'm bringing a strawberry/rhubarb pie, stuff for a spinach/apple salad, stuff for beer and root beer floats, and little debbie donuts. also, garbage bags, paper towels, and plastic utensils.

It was a great farm weekend! Thanks so much to everyone for the wonderful food, and congrats to Joe J. for winning the Straub games, and also thanks so much to Ed for planning and organizing the games! Lots of fun, and not too hot the first day, anyway. (Sunday got a little warm).

Em said...

Awesome fun at the farm! And I got Aaron Rodgers for my QB last night. Not sure how great the rest of my team is though. For the first time, I am really excited for the NFL games on Sunday!

When do Joe and Dad return?

c said...

Got home safely with our trailer o' trash. I've been hearing Beverly Hillbillies music in my head since yesterday. The garage is clean! Relatively.

Anonymous said...

Also thank you for the cleanup crew and trash disposers.

P

Em said...

Yes, a big thanks to the clean up crew.
