Happy Anniversary, Emily and Scott!
Happy Birthday, Mary!

I just heard a blurb on our news about a house in Leon that was broken into. Police and the home owner know who did it and the police had to put out a statement that said, "Authorities wanted to remind residents that if you know this person, do not try to catch him youself. Please call the police." I just thought that was hilarious.

We will make a litle day trip down to the farm tomorrow so Andy can attempt to set up that portable satellite. Hopefully it works!

We met Joe and Brianne at the State Fair last night. I enjoyed a porkchop on a stick, Caroline got a footlong corndog, Brianne got a grinder, and Joe and Andy both got a bacon wrapped, double dipped corndog. We couldn't really taste the bacon, but the bacon grease and double dipping made for a extra tasty corndog. We also shared a regular funnel cake and a chocolate funnelcake
with raspberry glaze.
Every year, I'm amazed by the goats at the fair. They have been around thousands of people and sitting in their little cages for a week now and still are eager for pets and attention. I think they're drugged.

Oh, and I picked up my new(first pair) of bifocals. They hurt my nose and don't really seem to help all that much.

Did I whine enough?

Do the bifocals make you dizzy?

Ellen, sounds like a great Fair day, and thanks for checking out the satellite.
Congrats Emily and Scott!

Poor Monica! Someone get her a bacon wrapped corndog! I got made fun of because I wouldn't let Caroline eat in the swine barn. I wouldn't touch any of those pigs anyway. they look like they're ready to bite off the next set of toddler fingers that come near them.

I also had one last story- Mike Gronstal's (State senetor from Council Bluffs and IA seneate majority leader) mother in law passed away last week. His daughter, Kate who is around Molly's age, posted on facebook that Joe Biden called the Gronstals last night to offer his condolences. He remembered meeting the Grandmother a few times campaigning and said they connected because she reminded him of his mother. I know good politicians are great at making people feel important, which is one reason why he's VP, but I thought that was pretty classy.

He also called Tom...Tom can tell the story better... but at Sarah's Biden was campaigning and after was hungry so Tom made hime a meal and then sat with him (just the two of them) and Tom told him about Mel, who needed medical help for severe diabetes (I think)...anyway, I think Biden called Tom back months later.
