Pat just sent me these photos with the news that she has gotten the approval of the Eithiopian courts and has a new son. She still needs the US embassy to do a backgroud check, issue a passport and generally appove the adoption, but she and Josh hope to have Amanual home before Christmas.

Now the Ethiopian government issues a birth certificate. That, along with some paperwork, is submitted to the US embassy. They do a background check, make sure everything is legit, and then issue a passport and a visa, then assign a travel date. We go embassy in Addis Ababa, swear something, they stamp some paper, give us a sealed packet which we give to the border patrol people when going through customs, and that's it. It'll take anywhere from 6 weeks (shortest) to 18 weeks (saddest).
AWESOME.
Also, don't forget to page down and wish Betty a happy birthday! And Joe, too if you missed that one. I didn't mean to usurp Betty's time in the spotlight!

You usurper!

Don't swear too badly at the embassy.
Congratulations!
and Mary can't pick names for Christmas this year.
Yay! Can't wait to meet him. Mary, you should pick names and you should do it soon.
Yippee! Hooray for the Straub-Wilkes family!!!
Thanks everyone! Very exciting. Now I'm wondering how Randy's test went.

Me, answering phone with new parish name: "Corpus Christi!"
Four out of ten callers: "Uh, Christy, is Father Dan (or Debbie, Wilma, Cathy, or Joan) there?"
On my way home to begin long weekend, starting with a baking afternoon. Yay!
Have fun baking Christy!
Had dinner with Mom and Dad in Galena last night. It was yummy!
Mary and Mike, how is the fancy new car?
Monica
Congratulations, Pat, Josh and Ammanual!
So very exciting. He needs to be here by Christmas.
I already have the exchange list ready, just need to e-mail it to Ed to post.
Randy didn't have an angiogram. I was wrong and stupid. (They said they might have one so when the "propcedure" was scheduled, It thought that is what it was!) But he did have an upper GI and they found something that may or may not be the cause of his problem.

Soooooooo excited to have a new nephew...congratulations Josh and Pat...you will be awesome parents and the three of you are so lucky! Blessings your way for a speedy home delivery (pun intended)! :-)
How did the Galena/Notre Dame trip go? Besides the final score itself, that is. It was a beautiful weekend in Iowa, I hope it was further east too.
We had a great weekend celebrating Stevo's 60th birthday in southeast Iowa at Lacey-Keosaqua State park. The kids organized the whole thing, including finding camping cabins (yay!), the weather was glorious and we all ate, slept, sat around a fire, slept, ate, hiked 5 miles, ate, slept, went to a little jewel of a lake and wandered around the beach admiring all the WPA/CCC stuff and wading in COLD water, ate again and all came home. I'm sure you'll hear from Stevo, but thanks so much to everyone who sent cards - he was bowled over.
We stopped at the farm going and coming and the roof was about half done by Sunday night. It looks good (pictures to follow), kind of like a slate roof. The Normans are going to be all done harvesting by Thursday so it's been a good fall for farmers too.
Sounds like a wonderful weekend! Mom and Dad are driving from Jim and Erin's right now, but I talked to them a few times, they had quite a trip!
Wed. and Thurs. in Galena
Friday night in downtown Chicago
Saturday night in South Bend and at the Notre Dame game.
Sunday night in Bettendorf.
So, does anyone have plans for Thanksgiving yet?
