Happy Birthday Betty et. al.

Yes - what is up with Randy?

Incredible - went to a ski club informational meeting with the kids the other night. It's a school program. Basically a couple of volunteer teachers take a hundred or so kids to the ski slopes every Thursday night beginning in January. During the the power point slides one read, "all fees are due Oct. 28th. No acceptions!!!"

I'm sorry, Lisa. Missed that about Randy. What's up?

Tom, that is pitiful.

We've passed court in Ethiopia. We are officially the parents of Amanuel Lemma Wilkes. Although I think they will follow Ethiopia protocol and his birth certificate will read Amanuel Joshua Wilkes.

I'll send Ed a couple photos and maybe he can post them here. For some reason I cannot log in to this blog anymore to do it myself.

Now the Ethiopian government issues a birth certificate. That, along with some paperwork, is submitted to the US embassy. They do a background check, make sure everything is legit, and then issue a passport and a visa, then assign a travel date. We go embassy in Addis Ababa, swear something, they stamp some paper, give us a sealed packet which we give to the border patrol people when going through customs, and that's it. It'll take anywhere from 6 weeks (shortest) to 18 weeks (saddest).
