Ugly Easter sweater contest, anyone? I was just thinking of cutting bangs...maybe not.
Thanks for the b-day wishes. Today Jude was home from school so we all went to the Y and then to Potbelly for sandwiches and shakes. Scott will be home soon with dinner. Looking forward to seeing many of you tomorrow.
Congrats, Grace! Tough call. so-called "at risk" kids will love a teacher they think actually cares about them. But with large class sizes comes all that grading - the worst part of teaching. I always enjoyed working with those kids though.
Yeah, I do love the troublemakers. For some reason, they're the ones who always go out of their way to come talk to me when I sub. Maybe cuz I didn't kick 'em out of class when I student taught.
We took the boys to the movie "Insidious" last night.
Very, very good horror (demonic,/ghost/possession)story. It's "cover your eyes" scary. At least my kids did.
At the end of the movie the theater was abuzz as the lights came on. People laughing at how scared they got. A rough around the edges Clevelander impulsively said, "Great F***ing movie!" His declaration was emphatic and loud enough for the whole theater to hear. I agreed.
I recommend seeing it if you like this genre of movies. The only distraction to the movie is they had kid actors who were instructed to play an age they were clearly beyond and Barbara Hershey's obvious plastic surgery. She's now has a Joker face.
So, did everyone have a great Easter? It sounds like Tom and family did. We had a nice brunch here with a couple friends. Frittata, French toast, potatoes, Bloody Marys.
Here's something kind of funny. Josh is working out at this gym here in Boca (got a crazy good price). It's where some professional MMA guys work out. Have you heard of Bigfoot, the Brazilian fighter? He works out there and Josh said he is a monster. I mean, not literally; he's apparently very nice, but Josh said he almost doesn't look human.
Not much else new here. I finish spring term in about a week. Then one class this summer, thesis in fall and I think I'm done.
Easter weekend at the Straub Compound was great fun, plus we had a sunny Sunday, for a change. Mom and Dad's guest list was as follows: Cathy and Steve Molly, Catie, Mia and Oscar Ellen and Andy with Caroline Mary and Mike and Caitlin Joe with Joe and Betty Lisa and Randy with Emma and Mary Bob and Graham Jim and Erin, Gillian, Nick and Mike Frank Emily and Scott with Jude, Sam and Finn So as you can see, a great crowd. Lamb (prepared by Joe), ham, potatoes and then 6 assorted vegetable dishes...the most creative was Dad's sweet potato dish with apples and pineapple, Molly's mixed veggies, Erin garbanzo beans medley and Ellen's salad with goat cheese abd figs. After all this and some nice wines (Frank's Cupcake wine and that nice bottle Lisa brought)...the best desserts ever... Many contributed to the dessert table but my hat is off to Cathy's 5 layer dark chocolate and bacon cake and Ellen's carrot cake with fruit...so good!!! Throw in a good Easter egg hunt a good dinner the night before of Dad's hungarian goulash, a night at the Perky Parrot and you have a recipe for a great Easter weekend!
Joe started his new job today. If you want to see stuff about the magazine, go to www.cuisineathome.com It's mostly about subscribing but you can get a look at issues of the magazine and maybe some recipes, I don't know. I just glanced at it this morning.

You look like that actress...can't think of her name, starred in "Pretty in Pink"...
Tom, I was saying that Cristy Vilsack should use your slogan against King, "boys are stupid"...that's all I meant.
Grace, you have a wonderful dilemna, congratulations!

And I forgot to mention that Scott got out of bed bright and early to get me a latte and egg and spinach wrap from starbucks and muffins for the kids.
M.E., Molly Ringwald.

We had the time of our lives this weekend.
Found a go-kart track near our house. Less than 10 minutes away. We go-karted for 10 hours plus on Saturday.
This same place has a paint ball facility. We will go there soon and for a seek and destroy mission.

When.....is it....ever....going to....stop raining?!?!?!?!?
Even though the press is covering the Royal Wedding extensively it's nothing compared to Charles & Di's wedding. Thank, God.
I hereby proclaim that if you involve yourself in anyway (even by watching) you have lost your cred as an Irishman(woman) or Scot...whatever.

I really have been hoping that that group that throws pies in people's faces would get together and do something big. It would be their finest moment!
