Happy Birthday December Birthday People. Sorry you got gypped with a December birthday though. But hey! A December Birthday beats no birthday at all.
Nebraska Football - from a poster on Black Heart Gold Pants "Watching Nebraska last night was a preview to what I think we can expect in the early going for them as a new member of the Big Ten— unmet expectations and disappointment. The Big 12 plays a stye of football that is much softer than what is common within our conference. I can imagine Nebraska wearing down their first few seasons in the Big Ten. I think Pelini is the kind of bombastic coach that will exhaust his team emotionally to begin with, add to that cold weather, smash mouth football games in November and bigger, faster offensive and defensive linemen and it might be a rough start for the Huskers." I tend to agree.
No arguments here. If Nebraska plays like they did last night they will not have a very good showing in the BigTen next season. They might even lose to Minnesota.
Yeah, let's get some rules or whatever for the exercise competition. Start date and end date? Keep written logs? Stevo's been smokin' me on consistency and it shows. Apparently I need more motivation than looks, health and staying off meds to succeed.

I resolve to exercise twice a week, so I don't think I'll win the contest but will still participate.
I'm so sad I missed all the ugly sweaters (and all of you) over Christmas. By looking at the pictures, I believe Betty's was the ugliest, Molly's the weirdest, and Monica's the most creative when I heard about the back...a toilet seat cover, correct? I do see how JoeIV's beer googles put him over the edge for the win though. That was why I got them for him.
Ok, sad post- my childhood friend passed away Thursday from a five and a half year battle with cancer. She was always very healthy growing up, so finding out she had cancer at 19 was pretty strange. We were very close through grade school and middle school, then she moved away during freshman year of high school and came back in the middle of our senior year. I haven't talked to her in about 4 years and haven't seen her in more than 6 years but was still getting updates from her close friends. I talked with her bestfriend the other night and it sounds like although everyone is of course very sad, there is a sense of relief that she is finally at peace. Her visitation is tomorrow, so please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
I made borscht for dinner tonight. It's ok, not great. I think there are so many varieties that one recipe can't guarantee it'll taste like the borscht I've had before. Bummer.
I also bought some gruyere for fancy grilled cheese sandwiches.
This has been a weird year in Florida. We had the hottest summer on record (so hot!) and the coldest December on record. I'm glad things are supposed to return to normal the next few months.
Ha! Fr. Dan thought he was wishing our Hispanic parishioners Happy New Year last weekend until Fr. Chris told him he was saying "Happy New Butt!" Another proof of the power of punctuation. Cause for great hilarity at the staff Epiphany party.
Oh Ed, that's pretty cool stuff...you now are a whisper away from the President's ear.
Can you tell him that Algona wants our stained glass windows back (for the Sullivan Building) that JP MORGAN CHASE has under wraps in a safe somewhere?
My friend's name was Fiamma Taylor. Everything of course was very sad but her family seemed to be holding up really well. Her little sister is only 15.
How do you make borscht? I hope I have a happy new butt for new years- starting p90x today!

I had a feeling Iowa would lose to Minnesota. Underachieving team thinking just showing up is a win.
But I had not one notion that Nebraska would get like 150 total yards against....WASHINGTON!?
Either way Nebraska is a good add to the Big Ten. Will provide a lot of exciting games with a lot on the line.
Tom
Happy New Year all! What are your resolutions? I was going to resolve not to be such a procrastinator, but decided to put it off until next year.
Speaking of resolutions, Pat when does the contest begin?
Monica
It looks like Erin has taught her boys well!
Happy Birthdays to Frank and Deb! Frank's coming over today for chicken parmesan. It's -18 windchill right now. Lovely.

So far I've heard from about 5 interested in the exercise contest. Email me if you want to participate.

Happy Birthday Deb!!!
Happy Birthday Frank!!!
Hope you had fun all weekend long...we didn't get home untill 3 a.m. from our New Years Eve party, it was fun.
Ellen, what was your friend's name?
Ellen, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.
I'll be thinking about her family.

I think Phelan eats borscht quite often...I do like beets alot, but not as soup...I think.
Florida just hired Charlie Weis for offensive coordinator.

it's only going to get worse as 2012 approaches...
Speaking of 2012 - it looks like the guy who works on the floor above me is going to be the next Chief of Staff.
Ha! Fr. Dan thought he was wishing our Hispanic parishioners Happy New Year last weekend until Fr. Chris told him he was saying "Happy New Butt!" Another proof of the power of punctuation. Cause for great hilarity at the staff Epiphany party.
Chief of Staff at the White House?
Mr. Daley!
An awful awful man is getting ready to take his oath of office for the governorship of Florida.
Skeletor lives on.
