Happy Birthday Ellen!! It was great to see you this weekend...could anything top the birthday song and dance at Granny and Grandpa's house? Have a great day... Aunt Mary and Uncle Mike
How was everybody's Easter? We (the whole Jayjack Clan) had a great time at Ellen and Andy's beautiful new house. Oscar zoomed circles around her living and dining rooms in his walker, the older kids played alot of nintendo DS and did stunt jumps off the hills in the front yard, some grown-ups helped scrape the house for painting and went golfing, Andy used the powersprayer, Ellen did alot of cooking and I did alot of eating and sitting around the firepit on the back patio. It was a great weekend. Ellen and Andy are wonderful hosts with a comfy spare room!
So today is the Cubs home opener. It is rainy and cold here in Chicago so it doesn't look like they will get to play the game. But the funny thing is that in order to break the curse of the billy goat somebody hung a dead goat carcass off of the arm of statue of Harry Carey outside the stadium.
Okay, I'm watching Ocean's Twelve thinking how fun it must to make a movie like this. I heard that those guys had so much fun making the first one, Soderbergh set the second one in Europe so they could all hang out at Clooney's place in Lake Como during production. Sheesh.
It was a very nice Easter weekend! Very relaxing and great weather at Mom and Dad's...lots of kids playing outside and the food was wonderful. Dad grilled hamburgers on Saturday night and had his famous salads. And then for Easter dinner he prepared lamb and ham and then everyone contributed side dishes. The easter bunny hid eggs for an eatser egg hunt...(Thomas helped Scott hide eggs, and then Thomas took part in the hunt!) haha. It was a very nice weekend, Caitlin was here, so that was great for us! There were 25 for Easter dinner.
Sounds very nice. We went to a movie - Adventureland - and in one bar scene there was a neon Straub beer sign. How did Ellen celebrate her adulthood? p
Happy Birthday, Ellen K! What was the song and dance?
The Cubs game went on and they won....The Mets lost 5-6. Grrr. I spent yesterday afternoon outside planting and cutting and digging and moving plants so it was a good day. The boss called a general holiday.
We had our first MN Easter and it was nice weather and a lot of fun! On Monday, we took the boys to the MN ZOO with G & G and then, ate at TGIF's (w/ my family) before heading outta town. The Zoo was fun but they raked us over the coals for lunch...$55 for the 5 of us...ouch! Eli took about 130 pix on his camera phone. Donny enjoyed directing us around with the map. We wanted to get photos of the boys where they super-impose your image in the mouth of an alligator or something...but, they didn't have that available when we were there...bummer.
Sounds like everyone else had a nice Easter too...good to hear. :-)
Dad's 1st cousin Marty Straub died on Easter Sunday night...he lived in the same Condo complex and he and his wife Talia were frequent dinner companions of Mom and Dad's...they will be going to his funeral in New York, probably leaving on Thursday. Marty was a really nice guy, many of you met him while visiting Mom and Dad...we had dinner with him a couple times and Mike and Marty went to a movie together once.
DETROIT — The University of Nebraska "pulled together as a team" Saturday night to defeat Central Missouri 4-1 and win its fifth national bowling championship.
Cassie Leuthold, a junior from Rapid City, S.D., who is the team's anchor, was named the tournament's most valuable player.
She said she was able to make the critical shots when they were needed, but she said so did the rest of her teammates. Still, she said she was shocked to win.
"I wasn't expecting it," she said. "I guess because we've had a few team chemistry troubles early in the year. The past few games we really pulled together as a team. I didn't even know if we were going to get this far. We fought and fought and fought."
Coach Bill Straub said NU owed its success to the fact that his team was so technically strong despite being so young. He has only two juniors and three sophomores and "a whole bucketful of freshmen."

Happy Birthday Ellen, are you off school today?
Happy birthday Ellen! I suppose you could be off school if you wanted, now that you're 18.
Have a great day!

I think that is good for another 100 years.
Happy Birthday, EK. Hope you had a good one!

Happy birthday, Ellen K!
I forgot to tell you over Easter that I liked your hair cut. You look stylish as always!
Other than the singing and dance by Em & Mary, what did you do for your big day? I'm almost sure eating bacon or gooey-roll ring cake was involved.
Love,

It looks like the Huskers will be good at Women's Bowling for years to come. Especially with Straub calling the plays.
Remember: Nebraska Women's Bowling doesn't rebuild. It reloads.
Marty was a nice guy.

Hope your birthday was great, Ellen. I just added this comment so you would have 18 wishes for your 18th birthday.
