I wonder if a good promo for ABATE would be to have Sarah's tumblers (for beer) and charge 'em a little more for the first and then, they can keep the cup and refills are a quarter...or, something. Yah think? Gas stations do it with soda. Hmm.
The reasons gas stations do it with coffee is a) coffee is dirt cheap- b) once they are in the c-store for thier cheap coffee they will also get a slice of pizza (huge mark up) and a danish, and a paper and maybe a soda for later in the day.
I'm thinking we should have a big sign out by the highway saying "FREE BEER". That's the hook. When they saddle-off thier bike they will approach our Tee Shirt tent and we will explain that every shirt purchase will get them 2 free beers. We will give away $1.50 worth of beer to sell a $20 tee.
I like that idea...but, I think the Sarah's cup will not only be FREE advertising, out at the camp site, but will also create return business throughout the weekend. Some dude may come in for his quarter-refill...but, his friend will have a whiskey/sour and the girly will have a margarita...and, as long as they're there...order a burger! Yes? Hmm. Of course, BOTH promos may work too. :-)
I think my idea is supremely superior. Reason: It hooks them twice - once on the tee shirt then again when they go in to get thier free beer they will become so enamored of Sister Sarah's legendary service they will come back again.
I think we will sell more tees this way. We make much more money on a $20 tee than even if they did come back twice and order a burger each time.
This is true, for example if we went with a simple one color screen, grey tee, an order of 200, with the design we have previously used...that cost could be only, maybe, $4 per. I don't know that we could get away with charging $20 for a, "Bar," tee though. Could we? I think we sold them for $15 before.
Happy Birthday Gillian, dear hope you get lots of gear! You're getting sooo tall with pretty hair, as it falls framing your beautiful smile. This is your chance, take awhile make a wish and blow out the cake, grab your presents before the boys take! haha Happy Birthday from Aunt Mary and Uncle Mike...we had a great visit at your house a few weeks ago...keep writing!
Straubolas~ I began my search for plastic beer mugs (handles) and plastic stadium cups (no handles). My initial review suggests that mugs will be, almost, 3 times the cost of a stadium cup. Many things to factor into the cost yet. Most importantly, what and how much we want to imprint on them...but, initially I would say that a mug would cost us @$1.10 each and a stadium cup would be @.40 each. This price is not a for certain, just a projection. These prices are, for example, if we ordered cups for Sarah's and are simply gonna imprint the name of our businuess on them. It becomes a slippery slope as you add more and have artwork/graphic charges. I do agree, with Mary, that the beer mugs are cool. Absolutely! However, I would order...if they were stadium cups..at least 6. Realistically it would be a lot easier to find space for them, in the kitchen, if they were stackable. Also, do handled cups fit in our collapsable chair cup holders?...important. Ha, ha. Seriously, just throwin' it out there...I am happy with whatever you guys pick. Last year, I ordered 63 tee's for the group. I would suspect that IF we do order glasses that a lot of us would order more than one. Yes? Maybe, I'm wrong. Also, once they're ordered we won't be able to re-order, just a few, as it becomes wayyyy too expensive. For example, the 9 St. Patty's tee's that we had to re-order were $29/each or something ridiculous like that.
Before, I research the mug/cup thing further. Someone who wants to be the leader needs to decide if this is the direction yah wanna go, or if discussion as to which thing we should do is still needed. Just let me know. I am happy to do whatever I can, or nothing at all. Thanks! :-)
Mike just spoke with Dad, and Dad had just finished giving the convocation at his alumni gathering at Notre Dame! He told Mike he felt it went real well, and now he could relax and have fun.
I wonder if teachers in the Age of the Vikings had to put oranges or something on the children's horned helmets so they wouldn't poke each other's eyes out...?
Maybe you should create a myspace page for sister sarahs and on the profile you would have a jpg coupon that people can pull off the site and print out. On the page, you could have party pics from friday and saturday nights and people could add sarahs as a friend.
I'm getting a new email address starting Monday, I think. We're starting the move to the garage and I get high-speed internet. I gave Wilma two alternatives for an address, so I don't know which it is yet.
Has anyone ever had Brunswick stew? I was looking through my crock pot cook book and it was a recipe I had all the ingredients for. It doesn't really seem too appealing. It has cubed chicken breast, potatoes, onion, can of diced tomatos, can of corn (i'm using frozen) salt, pepper, worchestiershire, and hot sauce. Then when it's almost done, I am supposed to add six slices of crispy bacon crumbles to the stew. I have no idea how this will turn out. It also calls for marjoram, which I don't have. ANyone know a substitute? Oh, and I'm supposed to add a can of lima beans, which I don't have and will never have. Maybe I'll add some frozen peas instead.
If I ever go back in time to the old west and I some cowboy drags me behind his horse I'll take along a magazine. That way when he looks back and sees me leasurly reading a magazine well, boy I'll bet that will make him mad.
Mugmugmugmugmugmugmug sung to the tune of the traditional Trivial pursuit chant, "Menmenmenmenmenmenmen" It would be nice if we could get actual steins with lids to celebrate the Straub's Germanic heritage.
I'm usually not awake at 6.30 on a Saturday. My insomnia has me searching for stuff like steins online. I also discovered that, over Labor Day, the Nebraska Nevada game is at the same time as the GTech ND game. 3.30. Good news is, ABC picked up the game (for some reason) and the splinter group of husker fans will not need to travel to West Des Moines to watch the game.
Randy et al...as you probably know, Cy is playing Kent in a Thursday night contest (aug 30th). Didn't they open with a Thursday game last year, too?
Maybe worth a trip to Ames beforehand. I'll have to see if I can manipulate my work schedule.

Start them out at $20. Lower if they don't move.

The Police just launched a new tour after years of seperation. Here's the headline on Yahoo News:
'Police drummer rips band's "lame" concert'
a quote from Copland (the drummer) "The mighty Sting momentarily looks like a petulant pansy instead of the god of rock," Copeland reported.

Can you make a t-shirt with a message that only shows up when it gets wet? There would be lots of beer thrown around, and plenty of t-shirts sold.
What are they free from..at the freedom rally?

Happy Birthday G.S.! Have fun!
They are free from helmuts
Little nervous about the mug/cup thing as it states you need a minimum order of $300...hmm, we'll look into it.

That's an awesome idea! Will you design it and set it up? Pretty please?

Does fred care what your address is? Or Bambam? @rockosaur.com?
Sure, as soon as the fence is stained I'll take a photo. It's all up now! I need to Tom Sawyer someone into staining it.

Too bad you don't have a karate kid!
Happy Birthday Gillian! We can't wait to see you in person, though your photo is gorgeous.

Do you remember when Caitlin was crazy about canned lima beans, when she was little? I didn't want to be seen with them in my cart!
Maybe Ed will be getting free Straub cups with a keg of beer, anyway...do you know, Ed?

Creighton just lost 6-4 :-( !!!
The 1st inning did them in!
Tom, you are very thoughtful today!
Thanks nance for looking into all that stuff.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANNY/MOM!
Have fun in Ireland. Wish I was going. Although we have had enough rain in the last week to be almost like Ireland.
Hope you had a happy birthday Gillian. Did you play out in the rain? What did you get?
Monica
I hope you also enjoy your triple digit years as well, Gillian...when they come along!
