Cathy-On your special day-may you celebrate surrounded by the love of friends and family.
Frank-did you buy a house/condo/storage locker/mobile home/cardboard box under an overpass? Or something? Ta live in? Is it off-white inside? Does your microwave look majestic on the counter?

Joe, Nance or Tom...I heard there was something on KLGA about Dad being named to a state-wide rules board for Iowa Judges...does anyone know more?

Joe K:
I did not buy a place. I was wondering if Monica wanted that table back because you guys were moving into a bigger place. She left it with me because you didn't have the room, and I needed one.

Cathy:
Happy Birthday.

Mary~Yah...it was a surprise to him...I gather. It's true. Don't know much more than that. :-)

Happy Birthday Cathy...you rock! I hope your root canal went as easy as possible and that you are able to enjoy your Birthday night.

I had a root canal not that long ago. It's really not that bad. It was sort of a pain in the butt, for me, 'cuz I have TMJ and it hurt to have my mouth open for that long (I can hear the laughter now!). Other than that...no biggie. :-)

Urgent! :-<>

I need Emily's cell number...does anyone have it?
She left your folks about 20+ minutes ago and I have some of Jude's things here. I am trying to catch her before she leaves town...completely.

Please, call at 515-295-7725 or email at tomandnance@netamumail.com!
Thanks.

Hah! Just think, two or three of my kids are reading this blog right now and saying, "Oh, shit!" to themselves.
Stopped at Molly's house last night after we went out for pizza and a walk through Menard's (wotta date) and webrought candy bars to the girls. Mia sat on Stevo's lap to eat the candy and give him hugs and talk to him, and then toddled over to me, climbed up on my lap and projectile vomited like a fire hose, got me, my clothes, my hair, my open purse, etc. I'm happy to report that she was fine afterward and was telling me about "Wee-Wee" (Pee-Wee Herman) as she got into the tub. She's a fan.

Got it! Thanks Pat...you rock too! :-)

How come there is no picture of Cathy taking her pants off in a bar?

Happy birthday Cathy. You will live through it. You can eat lots of soft cake. Ellen and Sean were at the ortodontist this morning and I thought of you. Your smile looks perfectly good to me. I bet your dentist just wants a shiny new car.

I think my Dentist wanted a new car! I had a cavity and the recptionist scheduled the filling 94 days out! She said that's the best they could do. The next day Kelli made a cleaning appointment for the NEXT week! I called and said, "Hey, how come she got in so soon?" She said that their cleaning and filling openings were scheduled differently. I said that I thought fillings should be a priority. Oh well, didn't matter...had to wait. On day 36 I had terrible tooth pain and wound up getting a root canal instead of a filling. That procedure cost us close to $600 out of OUR pocket 'cuz we don't have Dental Insurance. Ugh! :-<>

I'm selling a Garrigan fundraiser called Gridiron Gold. It's a one-time $20 cost. in return, you are entered, every week of the 17 week NFL season, into a contest.
For the $20 you get a ticket. The ticket assigns you, for each of the 17 weeks, three randomly selected NFL teams. Each week you have three different teams. I'm looking at my ticket right now and for week one I have the Lions, Chiefs and Seahawks. If those three teams have the highest three team total points in the NFL that week, I will win $225. 2nd highest-$100. It goes down to 8th highest at $20. There are also prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lowest point total $5). Week 2 I have three different teams.
If you win a prize in a given week a check will be mailed to the address you provide. You can see how you're doing by checking a website printed on the ticket.
If anyone's interested let me know and I'll advance the $20, prepare the entry and mail you your ticket.
Stevo-that last $20 you gave me toward's Dad's father's day has been applied, in Cathy's name, to her entry in this contest. She's in.

What do you do in this situation?

Your boss is a great friend you are starting to dislike and get angry at bc you work together and she's your boss, and the office is so dysfunctional that almost daily someone cries. But your husband is in school and you really need the money. And, there are a couple of jobs you could apply for that are interesting sounding and you are qualified for, at different institutions but you know you will probably move in 2 years when your husband graduates. Plus you may get pregnant, who knows.
Do you apply for said jobs?
What if you just hired someone and then they got pregnant and then the next year they left?
And, if you apply for said jobs, do you tell your boss friend you are looking for jobs?

Anonymous said...

You cannot base your decision today on what, "might," happen tomorrow. The variables you mention are, somewhat, out of your control.

I would not tell your boss/friend. If you get a new job...then, tell her you are looking...then, tell her you got one!

Pat- It's called small office syndrom. At the office I work at, there's five women who are all very close. The first 8 months I worked there though, there was slamming doors and crying everyday. (not me, I'm just the work-study) Finally, they sat down over two whole days and laid down ground rules. The main one was not talking behind other's backs or waiting to solve conflicts. It's worked for the last 3 months!

Mom- I remembered, too. I didn't want to call you at 7:00 when I got up for class, so had to wait until 11 when I got out! Happy Birthday!

P. Rose said...

Yes, it's small office and unstable syndrome. I agree. We have ground rules, they just don't stick.
alas and alack.

I agree with Nance. You have to do what's right for you. Those people wil survive if all those things come up. Why live in misery?

We close on our house today. I think I'm going t throw up.

Frank, we'll take the table if you don't need it. I f you need it feel free to keep it. We hav e room in the new house bot if yuo are still using it, keep it. Just don't give it to some stranger. I just remember Grandpa always figuring out how much money he was making (or losing) sitting at that table. We'll figure out a way to get if it is in your way.

Thanks,
Monica

How are your teeth today, Cathy?

Pat, what did they say about your knee?

Hey Monica,
THE day you left on my phone is a weekday? Which day is it?
thanks,

Monica, I still use it. It's the best coat rack ever. I just wanted to make sure, being as it's your table and all.

Pat, yeah, tell us the deal with your knee?

P. Rose said...

Thank you for all the advice, yes it's already a negative office. that's why I've bartered for more pay and fridays working from home.

I have a Baker's cyst, a small ganglion cyst and then I have very unbalanced muscles. SO, the cysts have burst or whatever they do and there is fluid back there but that is supposed to go away. I am now doing 3 sessions of physical therapy to learn how to develop my hip muscles and the inner side of my thighs by the knee.

Frank~I, always, thought that Nordic Track's made the best coat racks?

I have always preferred the floor.

Mom, I called on your birthday and we sang to you on the voicemail. I did have an Oh Shit moment just now when I realized your card is sitting on my entertainment center waiting for a stamp, though. Sorry!
By the way, Ty is 4 now. How are your teeth?

Anonymous said...

Uh oh...was that a, "hint?" Did Grandma forget? :-<>

Happy Birthday Ty! :-)

Cathy~ How'd it go?

Tom...If we had not invaded Iraq, Saddam would be in power and there would be balance (somewhat) in the mid-east...I would say WE played right into Iran's trickery! Poor Lebanon...good thing Sean Kennedy didn't go there for his summer holiday. By the way Tom, not ALL Muslim men are mean and angry, many more DO hate us NOW than before, can't say I blame them.

Pat, didn't your boss introduce you and Josh??? Does she know about your unhappiness...she did come to Whittemore for the wedding...I would lay it all out on the table. Good Luck (I thought Josh had only 1 year left)

Pat, I hope you are seeing an ortho doc. I think most people with Baker's cysts that I have referred have had aspirations/injections or surgery. But they are usually quite a bit older and heavier than you. Cathy, I hope your root canal went well. If anybody needs one, there is an endodontist here in CR that literally wrote the chapter on root canals in the general dentistry textbook. She was finished with mine in a half-hour. My dentist sister was her student at Iowa.

My $600 root canal that should have been a filling...took **at least** an hour!

Speaking of Dentists...Eli, Liam and Don are having Lik-O-Stix right now!

I have a suit made from moral fibres. I wear it when I get on the blog.

Thanks, everyone, the root canal wasn't bad, except the electricity went out right in the middle of drilling (thunderstorm) and I was lying there laughing with my mouth wide open. Mine cost $780, not counting the crown I'll get in August (another $600!) And we don't have dental any more either.
Loved the birthday song, especially all the cha-cha-chas. Our apologies to Ty; we'vebeen talking about getting together next weekend and sort of thought we'd celebrate then, but we should have called him.
All in all, not a bad birthday. Humourous dental visit, minor plumbing emergency solved easily, supper work meeting where I had a pancake, and there are no pictures of me with my pants down in a bar because they didn't have cameras back in those days.

P. Rose said...

Thanks Joe,
They told me to come back if the pain does not go away and we'll talk about surgery.
Mary, yes she is a great friend, it's just getting difficult. Power. It's about power. Isn't everything? Iraq and Saddam and Baker's Cysts too?

FYI---Brian's band now has a website although they don't have it filled in much yet and the music is all old recordings. They'll have some of their recent stuff on there soon. But the address is: www.redlightrunnersmusic.com
