FYI From Dad:
The funeral is Friday with a prayer service Thursday night. I also heard that there was some blood at the scene but that has been attributed to his alcoholism. That is why the DCI was called in, as I understand it, but I don't believe there is any suspicion of foul play. Darlene is very much shaken up. Mom and I spoke to her yesterday but I don't think we will contact her again until a few days after the funeral.

Hello Everyone,
Are any, of you, planning on coming?
I will be at a retreat on Thursday in Perry but I think I'll skip the Friday (half day) part of it and come to the funeral. What time is it?
I'll find out and get back to you. You are welcome to stay overnight, at our house, if you would like. (smile)
I ordered flowers from Mom and Dad and also flowers from "All the Straubs".
How much did you spend on the flowers from, "All the Straubs?"
We will contribute. Please, let us know.
Hi!
THis is not a Farrell posting, but I wanted to make sure you got it...
Your prescriptions are only good for an average of a year.
Sometimes they just loose their potency... and other times they can start to break down into lord knows what.
So stop hording your painkillers! Go through your cabinets and throw away anything over a year old.
(And remember - an antibiotic for one thing (pink eye for instance) may not work for another problem (sinus infection, for example)

It's my understanding that most expired meds become less potent. However, aspirin becomes toxic.
That's all I know.
That is propaganda pushed by the drug co's! ...really I don't know...but expiration dates are a relatively new thing, remember when we just looked and smelled things to see if it was good or bad? But for people without insurance coverage for prescriptions...like me...I hoard antibiotics, for longer than a year, and I've never had a problem. A lot of people reduce their dosage and then save for a "rainy day". Another reason for overhauling healthcare is the U.S.!
Oh, I forgot to mention...I just went off my prescription for hormone replacement therapy...$60 a month, for the past 6 years...to try what a binch a women at my office use...it's sea kelp!...I pop kelp once a day for $5 a month, been taking it for 3 weeks now. But, I have to say, my lips are really scaly and my feet look like they're getting webbed...oh, Mike says they were always that way!
I've heard that's it's helpful to store meds in the fridge.
I hold onto our prescription CODEINE cough syrup...like Elaine (Seinfeld) held onto the sponge! ~ha!
LThat's true... I hang on to my codine, too.
Erin says, "I get drunk every night because I only have 3 fingers on my right hand"...Jim says, "I get drunk every-other night and forget to shave."
I do know that Joe's office gives all their expired meds to the free health clinic. Most are still godd for quite a while. The reason they give them is they are always getting replacements. I think Mary is correct in saying it is drug company propaganda.

Lisa,
Why are you berating me when you, yourself save codiene?
I agree about overhauling health care. Illinois has a program for kids under 18. Depending on your income, you can get free or reduced doctor/dental visits and prescripts, and starting in the summer it will count for vision also. You still need a provider who will accept it. Too bad I can't get it for me, though.
