Snow day today! This is the 2nd snow day we have had in 3 years. Prior to that they had only had 1 in the previous seven years. The problem is they didn't call it until my kids were already up, dressed, and eating breakfast. Now they are just going to fight all day!

We've had quite a few snow days.

They are going to rob days from Easter Vacation to make up. I wish they'd make up at the end of the year.

I still get all happy when there's a snow day, even if I'm going to go to work anyway. I'm thinking of the joy in households all over town.

Well my birthday was awesome!

Went to CB/Omaha and watched Creighton beat up on Wichita St. to secure the #1 seed in the Mo Valley Conference and then went to Lisa's were Lisa cooked calzone's for everbody and Cathy made me Bavarian Mint Pie.

I drove back to Chicago on Sunday and it was a bright sunshiny day and I listened to the audiobook Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Thanks to everybody for the wishes, gifts and fun!

Hi,

driving our new, used santa fe now! I guess we have officialy mad the move from tiny car to mini-suv.

Lisa, congrats! Sorry I didn't get back to you about how we liked our Santa Fe. That third row option comes in handy and the car drives really nicely. It also accommodates short drivers and tall drivers equally well.

Sam exclaimed at dinner last night: meatloaf! My worst enemy! You can imagine how well dinner went. Jude loves it as do Scott and I.

Creighton's up at the half against Drake. It looks like we will officially be joking the big East. Butler will be the only non catholic school in the league. I hope McDermott doesn't go to theNBA. We will def need him against stiff competition next year.

I loved driving Emily's when I borrowed it. Good choice Lisa!

Josh said his dad always made meatloaf when he was very angry. So now, when he eats meatloaf, he can feel a slight tickle in his throat, the harbinger of tears to come...

Emily, I hatred meatloaf as a kid. I'll eat it now but don't love it.
Poor Josh. I'd never eat it again.
Congrats to Lisa. Do you still have the Kia.

We are staying here for Easter. If anyone wants to come they are more than welcome.
Chicago and Minnesota people that's only a 4 hr drive. 3hrs from Algona and 4 from Omaha.

I love meatloaf. Mine has tomatoes and spices and cheese chunks and oatmeal and peppers and onions.

Mary hates anything with crunchies (in this case onions and peppers)

Randy would like it better if I made it with bread crumbs, dumped a bottle of ketchup on top and served it with beef gravy.

That just doesn't make sense to me. I like mine with alfredo sauce and bow ties.

Why did Josh's dad make meatloaf when he was mad?

The Kia is toast.

It's more of a joke in his family. Josh's dad did most of the cooking so I imagine it was something he made when he really didn't want to make anything.
Josh just remembers his dad slamming the oven door once and then yelling at him later while he was eating meatloaf and he didn't know why he was getting yelled at.

Monica, we are planning to come for Easter unless you want to take back your invitation. Tell me what we should bring.

Today Sam was climbing in the car and bumped his head very hard. He said the rock and roll made him do it. AC/DC was playing on the the radio.

Thanks for the invite Monica! I think we can come. Thanks too, Cathy, for your invite. That's a bit too far to drive since I have to teach Monday a.m.

Em said...

Yes, Cathy. Thanks for your invite as well. Monica's is closer for us too.

Anyone want to buy a $5 raffle ticket for a chance to win $2000 Visa card? Proceeds go to the boys' school, Annunciation. Each child is supposed to sell five tickets, so we have 15 tickets to sell. Of course, I can get more if you're interested.

In talking with one of Eli's teachers we were told that in the years this guy has been teaching he has never had a student answer this question the way Eli did....

"List in order of importance to you these 3 things; Family, Friends, Religion."

Eli's list went Religion, Family, Friends.
