Happy Birthday to joe K and Mia! And. Big welcome to Manny. Scott and Mom and Dad and I got to see him Sunday night and he is as cute as any kid can possibly get. We had a wonderful trip to FL for the wedding. Captiva is simply beautiful and the bride and groom were just as beautiful.
Jude had a great birthday. The weekend before the wedding he had a big party at Pump it Up. A huge place with a bunch of different types of the inflatable jumpy jumps. All the kids had a good, sweaty time. Legos are definitely the most popular toy. I made Jude pick out two of his gifts to set aside to give to Toys For Tots and lucky for him he had two duplicates so he had no problem handing them over.
My neighbor, a very vocal liberal, is giving up all political debate, discussion, commentary, etc. for Lent. He is "fasting" from political discourse. I might try that.
Just had a phone conversation with a 24-year-old girl who wasn't baptized even though her parents were both Catholic. She said it's time she found a church and as I started explaining the whole RCIA thing she asked if she would heve time to get baptized before the world ends in 2012. I explained gently that this belief is not necessarily a Catholic belief but is someone's interpretation of the book of Revelation, but that the majority of biblical scholars don't necessarily agree and she heaved a big sigh and said, "Oh, good." I then referred her to the head of the RCIA team. She's very relieved. I'm going to look real stupid if the world ends this year.
Mom and I met Pat, Manny and Josh's Mom, Lucia, for dinner in the Little Munich restaurant in Lake Worth tonight. I saw Diane's Ash Wednesday meal and I almost got sick because we had to order fish in a German restaurant. I got fish & chips. At least the french fries were good. Manny seems to be more relaxed each day. This was the 3rd time we've seen him since Sunday and each time he seems more acclimated than the time before. He calls Pat "Mommy" but I don't know if he has said anything else in English. He smiles a lot and likes to high five and do fist bumps. We have met Pat & Josh for dinner in Lake Worth almost every weekend that they have lived in FL but tonight was the last time. I know they will be very happy in Chicago. Dad

Welcome Manny!
Joe, you look like you are pondering the food and beer possibilities once the ceromony is over.

What are you doing for Lent?

I'm very hungry right now. Stupid Lent.

Yes, not a very German meal last night. We should have gone Italian. We too will miss the weekly dinners. Perhaps we will try to visit next winter.
