Happy Birthday! In honor of your birthday I just scarfed down a half cup of cream cheese-jalapeno pineapple dip on saltines. Doing anything special?

The Man vs. Food guy is in Des Moines today. I mention this only because in reading this story I learned that there is a restaurant in Des Moines that serves BACON-WRAPPED TOTS. I am obsessed with the very idea. I'm not going to cook any, but I am determined to get them next time I am in Des Moines. Do they serve them with sour cream? I think they should. Or a blue cheese dressing or something. Time to eat lunch.

50-50 guess as to which rainbow to follow to find my pot o'gold...this guy found a pot o'something!!
My b-day was fun!
A guy exposed himself across the street (in front of Party Party)...naked from the waist down, waiting for the cops. haha

Cathy,
The bacon-wrapped tots are amazing. Even more amazing after drinking a boot of beer at Hessen Haus down the street. Caution: They might cause you to get your car towed because you were responsible and took a cab home. Luckily, Des Moines is nice about clearing cars out of the farmer's market area and only moves your car down the street and gives you a $15 ticket. Basically, I just recounted the night Joe's college roommate and his wife came to visit a few weeks ago. I'd do it all over again, though I might have TWO orders of the bacon-wrapped tots. (They're spicy and cheesy, too!)

Ohio sports radio DJ jerks are already speculating who they will play in the national title game.

Creighton's been in the top spot for several years in a row haven't they?

Tom, at least it's not CA sports talk radio guys. The USC talk was unbearable.

That first link I posted above is a huge hit on YouTube. The guy who made it was on Jimmy Kimmel. For a good laugh check it out. Then, for a bigger laugh check this one out...

We just found out our good friend Slam had surgery for an aggressive form of brain cancer that came out of nowhere. It's got to be scary for him because his mom died of brain cancer. So far his speech is badly affected and his right side is paralyzed, but they have hope that when the swelling in his brain goes down he will improve. He faces radiation and chemo after he recovers from surgery. Pat just retired from teaching and he has been retired for a couple years and doing lots of volunteer work, so they were planning on a fun year. Keep them in your prayers.

Oh geez, sorry Cathy. I'll be thinking of them.

When I was young I thought Sam was super cool. I'm sure he still is. Sorry to hear of this.

Mary - you've lost your sense of humor. Is Obama's job performance bumming you out?

Great idea: tater tot casserole WITH BACON.

In general I hate sports talk radio. I only listen to it in situations where I would listen to Rush or Beck, like on a long car ride while I'm driving bored and sleepy, just to get my blood a-boilin'.

Poor Slam. I remember thinking the same thing about him Tom. Just a good guy. Hope everything turns out OK.

I just downloaded a recipe for easy butterscotch pound cake. I never bake but I've been ravenous since I got back on my diet. Anyway, Maybe I'll try it with BACON.

Salty and sweet is always a winning combination.

I myself am making pulled pork, to be eaten with a spicy sweet cole slaw and sweet potato fries.

Tom,
I think Obama's doing just fine...and I think he'll be rejuvinated after his vacation to his homeland. I also think that it was a good idea for him to do the Old Spice commercials...makes him seem more down to earth.
