Happy birthday, Joe and Nance! I hope they were great ones.
I had a great weekend with my parents down at the farm in Decatur. When there aren't many people around, it makes you wonder what it was like to live down there a century ago. When I got home I was searching online and found some interesting stuff. This obituary of William Reed Cash was probably the most comprehensive:
Thank you for the birthday wishes. Happy birthday Joe4! I had a relaxing "holiday birthday (thurs)" and a great "actual birthday (sat)" and then, a fun "birthday party (sun)."
We had a wonderful time in Sausalito/SanFran...just beautiful there. Walked down the hill from Desmond's to a coffee shop right on the water and looked at the skyline and then at an approprite time walked to a little wine shop near the boats for wine tasting...
Nance had a lavish weekend. Not really lavished with gifts but she has a way of stretching her birthday into 3 or 4 days.
On Sunday night we had a small party with Mom and Dad, Nance's parents and the kids. The kids gave her home made birthday cards. All were sweet and kind of funny. Eli's was especially funny. He drew a Leprechaun eating cake and on the inside he thanked mom for taking care of them and "making sure we don't screw up." Had to be there because it was funny. Don's card reflected a sincere gratitude for being the defacto mom. Forget what it said but it was sweet.
I gave her a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. They sell them at KMart complete with one lonely bulb.
You both look great! Although Joe looks vaguely like he's picking his nose at first glance. Cool picture, though. Where were you? A wax museum in France?
What else did Nance do to stretch her birthday over the weekend?
Okay, how long before this other woman cashes in? Playboy, a reality show, writes a tell all, exclusive interviews...? Maybe she will become the spokesmodel for Calloway Golf.
It seems to me that she was hitting before he got into the car, and then he passed out and hit the little hydrant and the tree stopped him, he was totally unconscious when the EMT's arrived.
That's what I think, Mary. THe violence started in the house and then he drove away, got in the accident and she was there handy with the tool that made him her spouse in the first place.
I think the accident was a complete cover up. The wife found out about the women. The wife went crazy and beat Tiger with a golf club. Tiger told her that he would cover it up but if he did they were even and then they crashed the car.
Why doesn't anybody see this? This is clearly the way things went down.
Last night, Cathy's Generations of Faith had a big Christmas party for all of us.
We had meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. We had lots of family activities, including (but not limited to) making holiday napkin rings for a nursing home, a visit with Santa Lucia & St. Nicholas and decorating gingerbread churches. Then we all got to take home an advent grab bag... full of goodies that you open each day, Christmas erasers, magnets, etc.
Fun! Thanks, Cathy, and Stevo, too who seems to have become the sous chef for Generations of Faith.
Just a note...Tiger's wife is an identical twin...she went to college...her parents are very successful, working people, he's a national jounalist and she's a minister in Sweden's cabinet. One thing...when she was giving birth by c-section (for the 1st one) he wasn't there, kept playing in the US Open. If she stays for 7 years and is dutiful (shows up for events) she can then leave and get $80 million...time to call in the twin! (Also, I like the fact that she hasn't shopped the kids around for photos, unless that was also contracted as a no no.)
I don't think he faked the car crash. If you see pics of his driveway I can see how he could back into a hydrant if he was backing quickly to get away from a crazy, angry woman swinging a golf club at him. The driveway has 2 quick turns he would have to make and if you're distracted (I think he was) you could easily miss one.
I suspect there was a lot more going on and for a lot longer than has so far been reported. You gotta wonder just what was happening that she ended up picking up a golf club...
Maybe the crash popped his trunk open. He's just the kinda guy who might have a set of golf clubs in there....If you hear that voicemail he sounds like someone who just woke up and realized he's in danger of losing everything of real value to him, but is still hoping he can keep a lid on it. He needs a shot at redemption. He doesn't want to end as a cartoon in a cartoon graveyard. Bone Digger, Bone Digger, get these mutts away from me.
Oh, Geraldo, let it go. Some women who have affairs get stoned to death or their heads cut off. You gotta admit there are very few male analogs to words like slut, skank, etc. Anyone planning to see Avatar? Holmes and Watson? I saw Burn After Reading again last night on TV. Pretty funny. I actually think my favorite character was Brad Pitt's. I used to think he was just a pretty boy.
There was no trunk, a cadillac SUV... One time we saw Dennis Rodman at a sushi bar in Chicago after a BULLS game...he came in, sat down at the bar and proceeded to set 5 cell phones down on the bar... Stupid Tiger, with his one cell phone!
Stupid Geraldo used to married to our best friend from Madison, if you're on facebook, it's out friends Linda and Bernard Beck.
How come no one is upset that his wife may have beaten him with a golf club? If a guy did that to a woman he would be crucified. But everyone seems to be laughing about it.
We agree, unless the guy is killed or a body part is hacked off, noone ever seems to get too excited about the wife's spousal abuse. Part of what's going on here is the irony of her swinging golf clubs at him, We think.
I do think it's funny that she swung at him with a golf club and like Parnevik said, next time she should use a driver. ANd I do not think it would be funny if a guy hit a girl with a golf club. Call be unfair. He deserved it. She was obviously enraged. I would be too.
Pat, Take Josh to this: Glenn Beck's Christmas Sweater: A Return to Redemption LIVE
I think the whole Tiger thing is kind of funny. I don't think he faked the crash, with all the data the cops have on car crashes i think it would be very hard to fake. I think he was just trying to get away.
It's true people wouldn't be laughing if it were a guy. No matter how angry she was, it sounds like she's a little unbalanced, chasing him down the driveway like I assume she was. I'm sure that's why he didn't talk to police - so she wouldn't get charged with anything. It sounds like their working on some financial arrangements right now...I don't know how stuff like that gets public.
Hey everyone...Finn's baptism is on Sunday at 10 in Whittemore followed by sandwiches, etc at Mom and Dad's for anyone who would like to come. Sorry for the late notice!
Also, I just spoke with Dad and Whittemore has all the shops open Sunday afternoon and Santa will be in Dad's office around 3 or 4 I think.
Council Bluffs Iowa School for the Deaf is the co-national champion of deaf 8-man football. They pounded Nebraska, Minnesota and Kansas and were undefeated for the season. But the marching band's not so great.
3" last night and 7 - 10 coming over Tuesday night and Wednesday. Snow day!!! I could take off any day I wanted really, but there's nothing like a guilt-free day at home, not running errands or anything. I'm already planning tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch.
Mary Laurel made her first reconciliation Saturday (a little nervous; Mary firmly believes in her own and everyone else's sinful natures)and afterward she said, "That was one scary field trip!" Lisa and Randy treated me and Stevo and Father Dan to lunch at the Village Inn afterwards. I love all the restaurants with 24-hour breakfast and pie, even though I seldom actually get the pie. Just knowing it's there makes all the difference.
Hey, how did Finn's baptism go? Sorry we couldn't come. What did the boys think of it?
Tate said his plans depend very much on what Claussen does. I don't like Claussen and I can't help hoping he withers in obscurity like so many college quarterbacks have done. But to be completely, pragmatically fair, it's hard to fault him on this decision.
Why don't you like Claussen? I'm sure there's some story as to why that I never paid attention to before.
I hope that blizzard decides to take it's time and wait until Wednesday. If Des Moines doesn't have school tomorrow, I will have a bunch of kids cooped up in a too small room instead of doing all the fun little tasks I saved for myself today. I do a lot of little jobs during the day at my work for my director and other teachers, and did all the dirty work today so I could have an easy day tomorrow. Ugh, I hope there is school- I just remembered the kids also found the karaoke machine and I promised they could use it tomorrow. And of course, I want to go out for Indian food tomorrow night with Joe and Brianne.
The Baptism and lunch afterward was very nice...Jude and Betty helped Grandpa during the Baptism, while Sam dismantled the Altar decorations...haha(just a little bit) Caitlin and Uncle Mark G. were the Godparents (they drove up together from Omaha in Mark's mini-cooper).
Saturday night we had a party at our house to watch Nebraska/Texas....it was fun, our friends Barrie and Marie joined the group and brought oysters and tequila gelato shots, which we all enjoyed, including Mom, Dad, Joe3,Emily Scott and kids, Caitlin, Mark and Mike and me...served pork loin at half time. Suh should win the Heisman!

Kelly had an incident where I think there was a player that was involved in a muder at C. Mich. and Kelly didn't suspend him or something. Obviously I am hazy on the details.
Bergoff's is back open again in Chicago - went there last night. The feeling is they closed it down for a while to get rid of all the union workers.
I read something about a guy I never heard of named Edsall as a possible coach. But the bloggers after the column were about 2/3 screaming that he wasn't worthy and about 1/3 saying he's the real deal. I like his looks better than kelly's - I don't mean how good-looking he is but Kelly looks a little mean to me. And he's a tough-talker. I don't like that.
Snow day! Well, I'm working until noon mass and then I'm going home until Thursday. I can wrap presents and cook something in the crock pot. Oh, yeah, and clean a little I guess.
We were getting ready to decorate our tree on this lovely snowday, but just discovered that the tree stand is leaking all the water out from underneath, the rug is soaked!
Kelly campaigned for Gary Hart 25 years ago. That's not enough to cost him the ND job but it is said that he is vocally pro abortion. Would Father Jenkins make the same mistake twice in one year?
The worst part of the Central Michigan murder is that many of the minority witnesses on the football team claimed that they saw nothing. Coach Kelly explained this by telling how so many of them came from a culture of violence where they are indoctrinated to look the other way and to say they saw nothing. That explanation did not go over too well. He apologized soon after that and it seems to have blown over. Dad

Charlie has been fired.

I saw those charlie Brown trees. They are hilarious.
Just knew the Tacoma cop killer wouldn't survive his eventual arrest.

Joe 3, I knew that too and it's funny how there's been no questioning about the encounter and what happened.

Mary I read that. That's awesome. I can't wait to see his commercial Superbowl Sunday.

They asked her how many times she hit him and she said "Put me down for a five".
Okay, how long before this other woman cashes in? Playboy, a reality show, writes a tell all, exclusive interviews...? Maybe she will become the spokesmodel for Calloway Golf.

There's at least 2 other women.
Monica
She got a two stroke penalty for hitting him out of bounds.
It is so disappointing.
P
I heard he's changing his name to Cheetah.
He likes his women like his golf balls; white and dimpled.
I went to Ninja Assassin with Josh. It was incredibly bloody and gory. But the blood didn't even look real.
p
Will he go to Precious with you then?
Monica
I think the accident was a complete cover up. The wife found out about the women. The wife went crazy and beat Tiger with a golf club. Tiger told her that he would cover it up but if he did they were even and then they crashed the car.

He said Precious is too "rough" for him. He'd probably do it, but I dont' think I could get him to go to The Blind Side.

Why is it when men have an affair they are scum of the earth? Then when women do they are just exporing their identity?
I'm going to do an expose' on this. Stay tuned.

So today felt like the 1st day of winter. Light snow and a wind chill of 12. Kind of felt good, but I know I will get sick of it.
Light wind, @ 2 inches snow and about 7 degrees in Algona this morning. I'm ready for Spring.
Also, I'm officially sick of Thanksgiving leftovers.
freeze them.
Hey Joe 3
We had turkey 5 times over the course of 7 days. I finally froze the left overs.
The girls weren't sick of turkey.
My kids could eat chicken & rice alternated with tuna an noodles for a week and not get tired of either one.

I voted for Tony Dungy.

I voted for Skip Holtz.
NO to Jim Harbaugh. Stevo and I were mighty entertained by his screaming and cursing during the game, but no.
I predict Bob Stoops.

ESPN reporting Claussen will announce this afternoon that he's passing up his last year of eligibility to turn pro, on Charlie's advice.
What about Tate?
I've always kind of liked Pete Carroll. Sad if that grad asst. story is true.
