Don't be jealous but here's how I'm celebrating my birthday:
cleaning the house then going to work! But then my parents and Joe are comming over for cake and a beer, and I have the rest of the week off to do as I please. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Happy Anniversary G and G! I hope you're doing something fun today.

Mmm

Cake and beer. Does the sugar and alcohol together make it seem like you're making champagne in your tummy?

Happy anniversary Mom & Dad.

Happy b-day Molly. Hope you enjoy the beer cake. Is that what you are drinking in the picture?

Belated birthday wishes to Emma, Mary & Erin. Of course I'm not really belated in wishing Erin a happy birthday, except here in the magical and mysterious digital universe.

Des, we saw inglorious bastards last weekend. Agree, it was great.

So I finally have an answer to the question of "Where were you when you found out Kennedy died?".

Anonymous said...

Ed you are too funny.

Kennedy 4: In the kitchen getting the girls some breakfast
Kennedy 3: Watching TV with the family... Mom and DAd must have turned it on.
Kennedy 2: Algona: The house on Elm Street. I remember Dad coming home from work to turn on the tv to watch coverage and Mom cried. I asked if George Washington died.
Kennedy 1: I did not find out about him until I was into adulthood.

They kind of die in twos. The two oldest during WWII. The two brothers in the 60s. And now these two.

Of course there is the institutionalized one who died, and now Jean, who we met in Ireland.

Monica, teaching went fine but it is very stressful starting out. I can't say I like it yet. And tomorrow someone sits in and observes me the entire time. 1.5 hours, my second time teaching....no fair.

Also yesterday I was on campus from 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. and somewhere in there I lost my wedding and engagement ring. THe wedding band was josh's grandma's. It was not a good day I'd have to say. I don't remember taking them off at all.

Happy Birthday, Molly! Happy Anniversary Granny and Grandpa! So many reasons to celebrate. Is it too early for a beer?

Jim, I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I usually experience a little trepidation about recommending movies as I have strange taste at times.

Okay, back to work.

Anonymous said...

I really want to see that movie. It's almost 3 hours long though, isn't it? That's a long time!

Thank you Lisa I hope it's better too. Today I have off from classes so it's not awful.

Des I imagine you're worried about that first Huskers game now, with your favorite player hurt.

No it's not too early for a beer.

m.e. just wanted to let everyone know...
that Dad is out of surgery and all went well...they didn't have to do the longer, more traditional surgery(using a knife)so he should have a swift recovery.

FAU returns a lot of players on offense and their QB will likely go in the draft.

I was gonna take a photo of Dad (but didn't) Don and I think he looks like the Borg from Star Trek...big IV tube coming out of his neck with 3 other little ones encircling like a halo around his head, it's freaky!

I talked to Cathy and Don today, and they were just leaving to pick him up.

Hello everyone,
Thanks for your prayers. The surgery went well, according to the surgeon and I feel like I've got a pail of hot coals in my stomach sometimes. They discharged me about 1:30 today and Mom, Cathy, Steve and Don came to the hospital to take me home. Mary Ellan did a bunch of shopping so that I won't have to go to the store for a while. She also cooked a crock pot full of beef soup for tonight that really looks good.

The nurse who read the discharge instructions to me said I cannot drive for 2 weeks but if I am off the pain meds next week I think I'll be able to drive to Algona.

Thanks again. You are all lovable!!

Dad
