Happy birthday, Ellen. So great that you get to move into to your first house for your birthday. An exhausting but rewarding way to spend your birthday.
Last year on our anniversary we moved furniture and went to Perkins for dinner. I was happy.
And Happy Anniversary to Mary and Mike. They came to our house Saturday night with a bottle of wine, we paired it with some Orville Redenbacher's microwave popcorn to celebrate.
May you have another 35 years and may each year be happier than the next.
Thanks for the BDay wishes. I did end up having part of the day off, so I could spend it packing for the new birthday house! Tonight we are going to a cool cafe with some friends that make some of the best mixed drinks I've ever had.
You can send my gifts to the new address: 1620 East 12th Street Des Moines, IA 50316
Just kidding. But really, that is our new address. Update your address lists. What's Ed's new address?
Did you guys hear about the Shamwow guy? http://www.ottawacitizen.com/Technology/ShamWow+arrested+after+hotel+fight+with+woman+Smoking/1436935/story.html
Mom and Dad are back and are looking great. A little tan, happy to be home.
Had Chinese dinner with them last night at the Jayjacks. We had a smorgasbord - the Jayjacks have been more than welcoming to all this week. Thank you!
So in packing up my stuff to move i was on a ladder. The ladder sliped out from under me and i fell to the floor. I went to the emergency room and they said I brke my right thumb and they put my right arm in a sling. They wanted me to see a hand specialist but I said I was too busy and that it could not be that important as they had left me sitting there for 3+ hours (that i needed to spend packing). Movers coming at 10:00 am. I HATE moving.
Has anyone ever had a stye in their eye? Mine is almost all the way swollen shut. I've been compared to Matthew Broderick in Election when he gets stung by a bee and Forrest Whitaker. It's pretty embarrassing and inconvenient wearing only one contact since I no longer have glasses.
Oh, and Happy Belated, Donny. I hope you at least got a chance to show off those amazing dance moves.. (I don't think I got those genes!)
Hope you're feeling better, Tom. Sheessh is everyone sick with something right now? Summer needs to come!
Oh, and also I just got a job working at Creighton's child care center. Out of working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, I chose preschoolers (less diaper changing) I guess I'm going to be helping with their "literacy program" and being a TA because I guess its more like school than day care.
That sucks, Ed. Moving for us is going well so far. My parents and the Reeders both come tomorrow to help us with the big things.
We got quite the welcome to the neighborhood today. While making lunch, I noticed two cop cars circling around. The streets are actually pretty quiet, so it was odd. Then more and more came, parking in front of neightbors' houses, running in yards all over. The guy installing our cable walked out the door and a cop had his gun drawn, yelling at him to get out of here. There was a armed robbery down the street. Anyway, after hours of this and cops running through yards, K9unit searching, banging on doors, etc. we saw who was caught. A young kid, about 12-14 and they were still looking for his friend. After they got the first kid, they started letting poeple come out of houses but still searched around. I think the kids had a fake gun, but we're not sure if they ever caught the second kid. One hide under our neightbor's car and the K9 dog-cop loved sniffing our fence, so they thought the gun was there. It was interesting. I still love our neighborhood, too!
Ellen - get that stye looked at. I'm prone to them. Usually get them when I'm lacking sleep for an extended period. A doc once told me that they can be serious because the infection can follow your optic nerve right to your brain. Most nerves are routed throught the spine. But the optic nerve goes straight from behind your eye ball to your brain. Not very far to travel.
That was Caitlin with the stye in her eye. Ellen with the K( dog unit in her yard.
So, apparently - for those that don't know - Ed needs surgery today on his hand. They will take off the nail, put some pins in, and try to reattach the nail. He has to show up at 9 and just sit there til the doctor can get him in.
Dad and Mom treated everyone to a welcome back dinner last night at Sarah's it was great to see them, tan and all! Welcome back!!
Desmond brought dinner over to Ed last night, said Ed was in a lot of pain, he had been given no pain killers!! He was gonna take Ed to his surgery this a.m....I'll post if I hear from Des...
Cait can't find her glasses she missed some classes Can't drive because of the stye!
Went to the eye doctor. He tried plucking some of my eyelashes to see if the stye would drain (gross) but it didn't so I'm on antibiotics. Studying with one eye closed right now, someone get me a patch!
Ed, hope your hand feels better! Desmond is a good chauffeur.
GREAT news for Iowa. Maybe Nebraska will learn from good neighboring examples. Very unlikely.
Speaking of the Brewers...that's the team that my Dad took my brother, brother-in-law and Tom to fantasy baseball camp for. Cool. His Mom is Liam's Teacher.
I like the Chicago Bears. But I think they got "took" in this Cutler trade. They had to give up Orton who is a decent NFL QB and only getting better and 2 first round draft choices. I think that's a lot to give up for a QB who really hasn't done a whole lot.
I just heard from Ed...he and Des were headed to Pompei to eat...Ed said he's now on pain killers and his thunb looks really gross, and they won't know if he'll make it (his nail, I mean).
Ed won't be posting on this board until Monday so I thought I would post something about how the surgery went.
He got there at 8AM and they took all his clothing. Then they gave him a local and removed his fingernail to start placing pins up and down his thumb. Ed fell asleep during this process, not because of anesthesia, but because he stayed up late last night unpacking boxes.
I picked him up around 2, his arm in a sling. We went to Walgreens where he unwillingly got in a conversation about Brazilian soccer with the guy at the pharmacy. We went to Starbucks and then came back to get his Brett Favre pain killers.
After that, we wen to an Italian restaurant called Pompeii. Ed had pizza strudel and Hydromoanxizone or whatever. I had a Samuel Adams.
We parted ways outside his new building. Which is nice, by the way. There's a doorman and a gym and free cable.
I am now watching the Bourne Ultimatum waiting to go to dinner with Phelan and her friend.
Jen is out with the girls tonight. I fear what she'll do when she comes home after drinking. If it's anything like last time, she'll wake me by pouring a glass of water on my face and whip me with her belt. She's a mean drunk.

Ed, buy a house and you won't have to move again for a long time.
Ed, did you type that all left handed?
Did you hear about the garage mechanic who was addicted to brake fluid? His wife voiced her concern but he said, "Don't worry. I can stop anytime."
Tom
Show me a piano falling down a mineshaft and I'll show you A-flat minor.
Ed I'm so sorry! That's really too bad. Maybe you should go to a hand specialist tomorrow.

Ask him, "Dr. will I be able to play the piano?"

You keep getting hurt in this move... first your back and now your thumb. What's up?

Ed,
You have the worst luck with moves.
Ellen! Happy birthday!

Quite a long and rambly post, I apologize.

Wow. Everyone else should just stay home, don't get styes and don't fall. Wait, Ed was at home. Everyone should stay in bed.

Sounds like you were good to Ed today.
