Happy 17th Birthday, Aunt Jemima...eh hem...I mean Ellen! :-) Whatcha get? What did you choose for your Birthday dinner/dessert? Hope it's a great one!
I just got back from my friend's wedding in Tulsa. The shooting range was flooded so we didn't get the chance to shoot skeet. It's for the better as there may have been a Don Cheney incident.
Chicken Cacciatore: The Italian Classic. Half a chicken stewed in a mushroom & onion broth. Served over mashed potatoes and finished with tomatoes and Julienne vegetables.
The other day, I ordered the **Chicken Cacciatore** as I like to know what our new menu items taste like so when I'm, "out and about," I can talk about them. I have to admit, I was hesitant because I thought it would be tomatoey and a half a chicken sounded out of control. I loved it! Tom's presentation was beautiful. It's served in a large, shallow bowl. Broth, potatoes, chicken and then a very asian inspired display of julienne veggies atop. The dish was sprinkled with a few tomatoes and green onion. Initially, I thought perhaps it didn't have enough, "umph,"...however, as I continued to taste...the flavors began to mingle together and it was perfect. Way fresh, healthy and a flavor that was subtle...yet, absolutely wonderful. Half a chicken too much? Well, sure...but, it kept well in the fridge and was a nice left-over the next day for lunch. :-) I sampled Tom's meal which was **Past Sugo Bianco** and it was exactly as Sarah describes...and totally awesome. We think, perhaps, it will became a permanent menu item. Joe3 and Mary Ellan...some night when you guys are out...you should sit in a prominent place and Renee should walk slowly, with her tray nice and low (for all to see) and *we'll buy* yah the Cacciatore...people need to see it and try it...it's great. Let us know if you would like to do this. Our treat! :-)
Nance...we've seen them and bought them...Mom's new favorite is the Sugo, Joe's had the chicken...salmon looks good and I haven't seen the pork. Been there alot the past few days...Mom and Dad treated a couple times (tried to phone you) and Mike and I also, and Lisa was in town. (Betty ate at Sarah's 4 nights in a row this week!) m.e.
Yes, I rec'd Joe2's message (Thursday) when we returned from K-Mart. I called and left a message in return. We already ate dinner and the boys had a ton-o-homework. During the week, Eli and Liam eat around 5pm...and, the way they beg for dinner one would think I'm making them wait until 10pm! :-<> Yes, you were all wonderful and frequent Guests (Thank you!) at Sarah's...and, you weren't alone! We had a fantastic week and weekend...thank you baby Jesus and the good people of Algona! If you and Joe3...both & at the same time...wanna order the Cacciatore...I'll speak with Renee and ask her to parade it about the Restaurant/Bar on its' way to your table. Of course, yah gotta ooh and ahh (loudly) and look real satisified and full when you've finished. :-) We'll buy...just let us know if/when you guys wanna do it. ;-) Lisa was here? Sorry I missed her! What for?
Well, I had my first day on the job today. I thought I'd be able to do 4 shorter days of work, but instead they want me to do three 8 hour days. 8 hours seems like a long time to help people find books and stuff. Not complaining, part time is a beautiful concept, but I thought it would be totally easy. Which it will be, but it will get boring. P

get the salmon while you can, huge population drop and the Gov is thinking of banning all salmon fishing off the west coast this year.
