So..it's raining at Shea Stadium...one time we were at Wrigley, tickets for about 10 of us (and the Jayjayk's)...rain delay was called...not one drop fell..and they didn't play!
So now it's a steady rain and they are still playing...hope the METS WIN!

Hey, Mary...did you get my email?

Ed X said...

Yeah - I'll take it. If you would have told me that they would end up in the LDS at the beginning of the year I would have taken it. They will be back next year pounding on Lou Pinella.

Hey, all.

Darlene Farrell had hip surgery here in Des Moines on Wednesday. I saw Chuck in mass today and he said she has a staff infection now and so is still in the hospital.
Thought you may want to know.

Lonely Lady...there was an article in the Sunday Omaha paper about a woman who was found dead in her home this week...they think she's been dead for a year and a half! She lived in a high rent neighborhood, one block from 3 different churches and shopping...59 years old, she has a brother in town! Go too Omaha.com to read about it...so sad.

Anonymous said...

How the heck did her rent/mortgage and utilities get paid?

Anonymous said...

She was living in her parents home, they had both died in the 90's...she was a substitute teacher (not in recent years) so no ties to any employer...she was hospitalized in Feb.05 and had stopped her mail then...they think she may have died in March '05...a social worker (notified by the hospital) knocked on her door in April'05 and then assumed she had moved!

Anonymous said...

A neighbor complained enough times (about the weeds) to the city, so a city employee went to the house this week and went in and was photographing the condition of the house when his camera flash caught something on the couch...it was her body. She had been burning candles (not recently!) and had heated her house with a camper stove. It's SAD...

Anonymous said...

Oh, her house is probably worth about $200,000.

Anonymous said...

Kevin Dobson is a judge today on
"THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL"...I don't usually watch, but I was house cleaning, etc...

Anonymous said...

I wonder how much someone will be willing to spend for a house that had a dead body lying in it for over a year! :-<>

Anonymous said...

well, a nice cheap place for lisa and randy to buy when they move!

Anonymous said...

Nance,
I emailed the picture today. I hope it worked.

Garrigan, by virtue of the win last Friday, qualified for the state playoffs for the 3rd straight year. The first game (of 4) will be November 1, location and opponent unknown until after this Friday's games.

Joe Jayjack and those that are interested:
The BGHS School Song is set to the tune of the, "Washington and Lee Swing," a ragtime classic that was written by the glee club at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. The words are based on the words of the Hawkeye fight song of the University of Iowa.
We're gonna fight, fight, fight for Garrigan!
We're gonna win, win, win this game!
We're gonna show those _________ they can't win
when they meet up with Garrigan!

Anonymous said...

Thanks Nance...I never knew the Iowa Hawkeye part...years ago as I was marching in the band and playing the Washington and Lee Swing, I wouldn't have been as excited if I had known there was a Hawkeye connection...who else played in the marching band? Joe...I once lost the end of my trombone as I was marching on the field!

P. Rose said...

Anonymous said...

Monica~
Oh yes...they're great! Did you get my email? I sent it to the new address. Your old email address kept kickin' my message back to me as, "undeliverable." (?)
Thank you, thank you, thank you...you rock! :-)

Ed X said...

I played in the marching band. I played alto saxophone and tenor saxophone and on one hung over veterens day parade I would like to forget I played the bass drum.

Shhh.... Maybe he knew the connection. I have always wondered about the similiar with the colors too.

Anonymous said...

i played trombone, last chair all 4 years of high school.

Anonymous said...

I played clarinet in Jr. High and for about two weeks in high school. I saw an old beat up clarinet at Goodwill a few days ago and got nostalgic for about 1/10 of a second.
Geedwill is a good place to get books. You just have to look through all the romance paperbacks until you find a buried 75 cent treasure.

What is it a sign of when your son laughs at farts before his first birthday?

Anonymous said...

Pat, isent it throgh the blog because not all my emails have been going through. Lighten up.

Monica~ Your address that I have used before...sends back messages as, "undeliverable,"...however, the address that you used to forward Eli's photo worked well.

P. Rose said...

Call!

Grace, Karen Laird told us she has your clarinet somewhere in her garage and as soon as she unburies it she plans to give it back so start getting those lips limbered up. I'll send you a Benny Goodman record to get you "In the Mood!"

Eli's a smart guy. I also think humor of any kind (even slapstick) is a sign of intelligence. It has to do with being able to hold two conflicting ideas or wishes or whatever in your head at the same time and enjoying the paradox.

The Notre Dame weekend was great. It was fun to sit with Ed and Frank and the end of the game was awesome. After we walked 10 miles to our car we all went to a little run-down diner called Kitchenette #1 Family Style (Kitchenette #2 Family Style was next door but it was closed.) Sunday we drove down to Grace's where we were met at the door by Tinkerbelle. We brought back a dryer for Joe, whom we will go see this weekend, and a few more chairs for our attic, because we don't have enough.

I agree...'cus yah know...I'm really funny! :-<>

All I'm sayin' is, I open the blog and see there are more comments and get excited for the fun and then they are not for general consumption. That's all I'm sayin.'

All I'm sayin' is that you better quit saying that.

So, You think it was wild dogs (the lady dead for a year)?!

Anonymous said...

I agree with Pat...sometimes I even think there's another blog I'm not privy to...like the Christmas gift thing.

Anonymous said...

Huh?

Anonymous said...

I like the recommendation.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of wild dogs, has anyone ever read My Antonia by Willa Cather? It is SOOOOO good. In the book, a wedding party gets torn apart by a pack of wolves and Pavel must leave Russia because he becomes known as the one who fed the bride to the wolves, which he did, in order to lighten the sleigh and get away.

"Christmas List."
There's no conspiracy.

Anonymous said...

Yes - there is no conspiracy.

Birdie Num Num said...

CHRISTMAS LIST!!! fantastic.

My favorite time of year. I'm pleased to find that I have my godson, Sean. That means only one gift this year, Sean. No godfather gifts, just one "had-your-name-gift". I'm thinking a Starbucks card. Many Starbucks sell breakfast sandwiches and other things you might enjoy. Plus, I can just pick it up on my way to Whittemore.

Scott, if you're reading, I want a Glock 22 with an olive drab frame for the glove compartment of my car. If you can't get one in time for Christmas in that hippy dippy state of yours, I'll settle for the ear of a terrorist which I will proudly display at Sister Sarahs.

Anonymous said...

You're right...no conspiracy, i so happy!

Anonymous said...

From the "other side" conspiracy theory rocks!

Anonymous said...

I agree with Pat.
I don't want to know what for dinner unless I am invited.

Anonymous said...

We're having pizza tonight...you can come!

Anonymous said...

Monica,
will you be serving wine with dinner?

Anonymous said...

Yes, a White Shiraz. Mmm. :-)
Oh...wait a minute...that's me...I don't know what Monica's serving.

Anonymous said...

Anon:
We're having chicken, duck, brussels sprouts, pierogis and pumpkin pie. You can come if you bring a bottle of Smithwick's.

Anonymous said...

I'll be there if I can bring extra butter for brussel sprouts. And Im sure we have Smithwicks.

Anonymous said...

Only one bottle of smithwick.
