Happy Birthday, Donny! :-) Donny is having a B-Day Party today at his home...with some friends from school and some neighborhood friends too. It's from 2-5. He requested a chocolate cake.
Have a fun trip Nance! We just went out to eat at Dublin Bay, a great Irish Pub and our favorite restaurant in Ames, and thought about all of the Straubs while we were there. I had nutty salmon and Andy had seafood penne.
So I talked with Josh last night who is now in Switzerland. He has a two bedroom apartment in this village he's staying in. He said the building is over 200 years old and all his ceilings are made of wood. He said the village (Le Locle) is incredibly beautiful, a little run down, and he arrived on a Sunday and absolutely nothing was open. The population is a bit over 10,000. He's there for 9 weeks. p
Happy Birthday Don! Put your dancing shoes on! Hope the party was great and the cake was ate and you got some loot to play on!
Emma's first Communion was terrific - she did great! (She was concerned about the wine.) It was so fun to see Monica and Tom and Peter and Emily and Scott and Jude and Sam. Oh, and (of course) Mom and Dad and Mary and Mike. Two of Randy's sisters came and they were fun. Lisa and Randy had a nice party and fed us all the night before too. And then Mary and Mike brought snacks and classy beverages to our house last night. I've been eating nonstop since Friday. Stevo and Joe are forcing me to eat chili dogs during the Cubs home opener today if it isn't rained out.
We had a wonderful weekend...the Big Band dance was great. Mom and Dad were dancing even though they had traveled all day from Florida. Lisa had on a twirly skirt. The rest of the weekend was fun thanks to the Jayjacks and the Milbraths, and Emma looked beautiful!
I loved Europe. This is your chance. GO. I will take your cats for you. Just ship them to me. This is an opportunity to experience this time with Josh in EUROPE. I bet you could find a job THERE for a few weeks. This is a once in a life opportunity. Screw the cats. To hell with being a library assistant. Opportunities for such adventures are so rare. He would love you there. Kelli
I am going, just not until May, for 10 days or so. He'll be going back, in the future, and it's possible he could work there in 5 years. At least, if he likes it and if i like it and if the company likes him and if he keeps learning Ffrench.
I don't know if any of you knew him, but Seton teacher Chuck Stillman passed away over the weekend after a long battle with cancer. He was one of Joe's favorite teachers, and Betty and Eli had him this year until he became too ill to teach. Betty tells me he taught at Seton for 28 years and in Omaha for ten years prior to that. I asked Betty to describe him, and she said that he "liked pizazz"!!! Kelli
