OK, this is the first real post. I mean the first post that is about something important. Frank is having ear problems and they have an MRI scheduled for him. They took a bunch of blood. They know it is not neurological - but apparently the problem can be caused by many things, like early heart disease, auto immune problems like rhuemetoid arthritis or anything. It's also good for all of us to know, I guess the health issues we've inherited. So let us know.

Well, Frank. No one has info to share or they aren't using the blog. As far as I know, I have no heart or autoimmune problems. Mom and Dad would probably know this stuff. p
ah well, i'll call the parental units then.
OK I didn't get how to post to an individual comment before. It's probably not related but you should let your docs know about all the diabetes in the family - 5 of us now - since that always gets mentioned alongside autoimmune stuff (I don't know why)

I know it's scary and the waiting can be difficult...but, soon you should get an answer and be on your way to feeling better!

Cathy, i did mention the diabetes, that was a big one. that's one of the many blood tests they're doing.
I'm on prednisone. I figure as long as i'm on steroids i'll hit the gym too. bonus. i'll be huge and deaf, just like Lou Farigno.
constant ringing in my right ear, along side a constant rushing sound. the ringing does not increase in volume or anything, but the more background noise the louder the rushing sound so that's annoying. some hearing loss in the right ear.
the audiologist found that my right eardrum is responding normally, so the problem lies in the inner ear somewhere. the MRI on Monday may find something, or it may not.
there are so many different possible causes that it's hard to pin down right away. they don't think it's nuerological, as i don't have any balance issues and no dizzy spells or light-headedness (unless i'm drinking, of course. stupid bed spins). pretty much right now it's just a big pain in the ass.
Frank, i have nothing to add. I have no heart(that's what my kids and husband tell me) or autoimmune problems. I'll be thinking of you.

I have the MRI on Monday. I feel fine, thanks, it's just the noise in my ear and the hearing loss. More annoying than anything at this point.

Hi eveyone, A jerry straub is going to be in cedar rapids the weekend of feb 4th. he is dad's cousin. at one time he was a producer in hollywood but now travels around the country and speaks about poverty. cathy and mary have met him and say he is very interesting and and tells wonderful stories. i will probably have him over for dinner one night and would love it if any of you wanted to join us. we have plenty of room. please come.

Yes, did the doctors investigate the earmite possibility? Maybe it was overlooked. Would they show up on an MRI?
i'll bring up the ear mites on my MRI visit, but would think the doc would have caught it when he looked in there...
Hey...Gerry Straub did say that he was GOOD friends with Frank Zappa and you are Frank Straub...maybe you have dweezil or moon units in your head...anyway, you tell your Doc that necessity is the Mother of Invention and to figure out what the hell is wrong!
